Devil looked around, as if surprised anyone would want to talk to him. “Should I?”
“Why are you wearing scrubs?”
Devil looked at him carefully. “Why areyouwearing scrubs?”
“Because I work here,” Kevin said.
“Hey, that’s great, dude,” Devil said, patting Kevin on the shoulder. “Good for you. I gotta bounce. See ya.”
Before Kevin could say another word, Devil took Nikki by the arm and led her at a near sprint out of the hospital’s front doors. Just as they made their escape and the doors began to shut behind them, they could hear an angry voice shouting out in the hallway.
“Can somebody tell me why there is a man in Exam Four with a vaginal speculum halfway up his rectum?” the voice shouted.
“Is that what that thing was?” Devil said, as the both of them now broke into a full run across the parking lot. “I’ve always wondered what one of those looked like.”

Piper and Carly sat in front of Piper’s open laptop, staring at the screen, waiting.
“So, what’s up with you and Pony now?” Carly said.
All Piper could think of to say was, “It’s complicated.”
“Pfff. You two should get matching tattoos that say It’s Complicated.”
Pony entered the room, bringing in three open bottles of beer. He set one down in front of Piper and one in front of Carly, adding a large bowl full of Doritos for Carly, before taking a seat next to Piper.
“No cheese on those,” he said, shaking his head like he still didn’t believe what he’d recently seen Carly eat.
“I’m telling you, don’t knock it ‘til you try it,” Carly said, ignoring the beer to immediately dive into the bowl of chips.
“Unh-hunh,” Pony said. “How long is this supposed to take? Until the virus thing that Benny made gets onto Harris’s laptop?”
“They said as soon as his phone gets close to it,” Piper said, pointing to the laptop screen. “We’re supposed to get an alert when… oh, there it is.”
“Speak of the… Devil, hunh?” Carly said, nudging her sister in the ribs. “Get it? Get it?”
“That’s awful.”
“What? I love puns.”
“Yes, you do.”
“Did it work?” Pony asked. “Are you in?”
“Yeah,” Piper said, tapping away at the keyboard. “Yeah, I’ve got full access to his laptop files. Everything. Damn!”
“Will Harris be able to tell that you’re looking?” Pony said.
“Nope. With what Benny put on there, I could even turn on his laptop remotely if I wanted to.”
“Seriously?”
“Oh, yeah. It’s actually a little scary.”
Pony said, “Yeah, I’m glad Benny’s on our side.”
“Even if he doesn’t remember either of your names,” Carly said. “He remembers me, though. Because of my awesomeness.”
