“Exactly a year ago, the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen in my life came up to me and said she was looking for a short-term relationship.”

“Exactly a year ago?”

“Exactly.”

He lifted the skirt of her dress, baring her legs, his rough surfer’s palms sending the now familiar shivers up her thighs.

“Erez…this island is brand new.” Her voice shook a little. He licked his lips and stared at her lifted skirt, his pupils dilated with need.

“I want to check every surface in this place.”

He pulled her to him and knelt between her legs, like he did a year ago.

“Erez, I’m wearing tummy control underwear. It’s hard to take them off…”

“Geez, you’re difficult today.”

She thought of the vows exchanged between the couple today, their profound words of love. Gal sang beautifully, ushering the happy couple into the traditional Huppah cloth. The young men looked into each other’s eyes and promised the world. She didn’t need another wedding or a big celebration, but she wanted a meaningful gesture. For him and for her.

“Carry me to the bedroom,” Dafna said. This was what he wanted a year ago.

He grinned at her from between her knees and stood in one motion. He swooped her off the counter and she interloped her arms around his neck.

“I will carry you. And I’ll tell you I’ll always be there for you.” He walked a few steps and stood in front of the living room French doors. “And that I hope we grow old together. And that I want to wake up every day with you and go paddleboarding–right down there.” He paused as if to give them one more moment to view the lights dancing across the bay. “Then you’ll prepare us great coffee, which we’ll drink together on this incredible balcony, and in the evenings we’ll sip wine and watch the sunset together.”

“And have family dinners on Fridays, with your Gal, or my Ori and Tom, or all three together.”

“Yes.” He turned and walked towards the bedroom.

The king size bed looked onto the same view of the dark, slightly sparkling sea.

“I think I’ll get another tattoo,” she told him, just thinking of it for the first time.

“Get out!”

“You sound like Gal.”

“What will be your theme?”

“Something to do with the sea, or the beach. We’ll go together to Hila and choose.”

“We’ll have matching tattoos,” he said.

“That’s corny.”

“I’m a corny CPA,” he said.

“I love you,” she told him. “You’re the best one-night stand ever.”
