Let her keep seeking meaningless thrills with that reckless cowboy, or romance with the polished lawyer. Her passing infatuation with them will fade soon enough. But the inferno between us, that all-consuming blaze of something more...that will never be extinguished.

She can deny it all she wants, but her body and soul recognize the truth—she belongs to me. For once I claim something fully, it’s mine forever.

She’ll know it soon. They all will.

I feel it when she awakens, the charged silence shifting subtly. Moments later, the bedroom door opens and she freezes when she sees me sitting there, hugging her robe tighter around herself. I remain unmoving, letting my penetrating gaze rake over her disheveled hair, kiss-swollen lips, and the telling flush on her cheeks.

Mine.

Wyatt appears behind her, clad only in low-slung pajama bottoms. His steps falter briefly when he notices my presence, irritation flashing across his features before they smooth back to neutrality. He glances around for a moment, seeing Wilder still sleeping soundly on one half of the large couch before his eyes flick back to me.

"Good morning," he says evenly, resting his hand on Kat's lower back. I track the movement with narrowed eyes, imagining snapping each finger until he never dares touch her again.

"Coffee's fresh," I reply flatly. I catch the unease swirling in Kat's gaze as she glances between us. Wyatt guides her closer, every motion proclaiming his claim over her. He pulls out her chair in a gentlemanly fashion that’s completely at odds with the smoldering possession in his eyes when they rake over her.

He thinks he's secured his prize. But I'm just getting started.

Pushing up from my chair, I circle around until I'm standing right behind Kat. I place my palms flat on the table's surface on either side of her, caging her in. She sucks in a sharp breath as I lean down, lips nearly grazing her ear.

"Sleep well, Kitten?" I rumble low, noting her pulse kick harder. Wyatt straightens, knuckles white around his mug. I hide my satisfaction, focusing only on her.

"What do you want for breakfast?" My breath ghosts across her neck as I reach around her for the fruit platter. Her tongue darts out to wet her lips when I deliberately brush against her, the fabric of her robe the only barrier between her flush skin and mine. I pick up a juicy strawberry, twirling it between my fingers.

"Here, let me," I murmur. Bringing the ripe fruit to her parted lips, I watch avidly as she bites down, pink juice staining her full mouth. I have to clench my jaw against the urge to crush my mouth to hers and savor that sweetness.

Not yet.

Wyatt's composure visibly frays as I continue hand-feeding Kat, my body caging her in. I make sure to caress her plush bottom lip on every pass, heat sparking in my veins at each graze of her tongue against my skin. Her breaths come faster, teeth sinking into the fruit harder under my heavy stare.

When she finishes the last piece, I finally straighten, trailing my fingers along the elegant curve of her neck. Her turquoise eyes are clouded, lips parted enticingly.

Perfection.

I sink into the chair beside Kat, ensuring my thigh presses against hers. She tenses at the contact, cheeks still endearingly flushed.

Ignoring Wyatt's warning stare, I take her delicate hand in mine, bringing it to my lips in a heated caress as I fix her with a smoldering look, satisfied when her lips part on a soft gasp.

Wyatt is practically vibrating with anger, but he controls it. "Perhaps we should give Kathryn space to eat in pea-"

He's interrupted by the dinging of the elevator right before it opens. Kat's sister barges in, zeroing in on our tense table as Wilder finally stirs awake on the couch.

"There you are! C'mon, the family's gathering for the fort tournament." She takes in the situation with a raised brow. "Am I interrupting something?"

"Not at all," I turn to smile coldly at Wyatt. Annabelle glances between us all before shooting Kat an indecipherable look that Kat returns. A few moments pass full of their silent communication before Annabelle sighs and then simply turns and leaves as quickly as she came.

With her exit, we all race to get ready as quickly as we can after the late morning start, Kat taking the room and leaving us three guys to get ready around each other. We all do our best to ignore each other, but it’s almost impossible. Wyatt has stepped up the game, not even mentioning whatever Wilder managed to do yesterday before the obstacle course.

I think we all know though.

Which means I really am trailing behind.

But not for long.

The tension in the elevator is stifling as we all stand crammed together a short time later, the air simmering with competition. Kat stands next to me, her delicate frame nearly swallowed between my hulking body and Wyatt's muscular build. I glare over her head at him, irritated by how casually possessive he's acting after their little tryst last night. Letting his fingers trail along her arm, leaning in to whisper God knows what in her ear.

I resist the urge to shove him away, to wrap my own arms around her luscious curves and stake my claim right here. But I know patience is key. I will have my moment with her again soon.

Wyatt meets my stare evenly, a subtle challenge in his stormy eyes. My fingers twitch with the need to wrap around his throat and squeeze. To watch that arrogant composure crack.
