Holly Thompson, will you go to prom with me?

Love, Flynn

“Is this a promposal?” Her eyes tear up.

“It is. I hope you’re free next Tuesday.”

“A real prom? How?”

I grin. “You’ll see. If you decide to be my date that is.”

Her lips find mine, giving me my answer.

Chapter Six

Holly

I can’t get over how magical tonight has been. When Flynn asked me to be his prom date, I thought it was a silly joke, but he went all out and organized a prom for us. Everyone was there; Pauline, the other nurses I work with, Flynn’s brothers, his cousins, some other friends… It was amazing.

Flynn looks hotter than ever in his black tux, and he told me he loves my knee-length baby blue dress that I bought especially for this occasion. I glance at the gorgeous corsage around my wrist and thank my lucky stars for bringing Flynn and me back together.

“Ready to go home?” Flynn asks me as I try and fail to suppress a smile.

“I am.”

We walk to my car, and my stomach flips with nerves when he grabs my hand. “I know tonight’s prom can’t replace the one we should’ve attended together in high school, but I hope you had fun.”

“Are you kidding me? Tonight was the best. Thank you, Flynn. The fact that you were able to pull this off still boggles my mind.”

He grins. “It helps to have connections. Wren was the reason we got to use the party venue at Frosty Crest Haven. I asked to have the prom on a Saturday, but she said I’d have to book it three years in advance to get the space on a weekend.”

I smile. “Even if you hadn’t been able to do it here, you would’ve found a way. You’re Lucky Seventeen after all.”

“True,” he says with a laugh.

I help him in the car and get behind the wheel.

“It’s weird that you’re driving. I feel like I should be the one to get you home safely,” Flynn says as he clicks his seatbelt into place.

“I know your ankle has to be sore after all that dancing. There will be plenty of opportunities for you to drive me home in the future,” I say.

His eyes lock with mine and desire floods my body. “Will there?”

I nod. “If you want to.”

He leans in and softly kisses me. “Do I? Fuck, I want to spend eternity with you, Holly.”

His words bring all kinds of emotions to the forefront, but doubt is no longer one of them. I believe him, wholeheartedly. He wants to be with me, and I want to be with him.

When we arrive at my apartment, he walks me to the front door.

“Thank you for bringing me home, Flynn,” I say.

“I’ll call an Uber to get me back,” he says.

I put my hand on his arm to stop him. “Or, you could come inside.”

“Does your building have an elevator? Because I can’t get up the stairs with this leg,” he says with a cheeky smile.
