I’m going to start living for myself and not others. I’m going to make my own life decisions with my best interest at heart, not others.

And that will never happen when your partner disregards you at every turn.

“Your thoughts are really loud, Darlin’. Wanna share them?” Sigh and his arm.

“Nope. I want to go wash my face and teeth so I can kiss you without my past tainting it.” He turns my face to his.

“Yeah?” His smile is so hopeful that even if I hadn’t made the decision on my own, it would have been the tipping point.

Cause when was the last time anyone looked at me like I was the reason they were breathing?

Never. That’s when. Until Kooper.

Makayla

That motherfucker.

I can still hear Lacey moaning like a bitch in heat from the living room. I grabbed clothes from the spare room and got dressed. I discussed it with myself and her.

She wasn’t supposed to be enjoying him like this. It was meant to be clinical to get a baby. I mean, I knew he’d enjoy it, but I was meant to make it good for her, not him.

I slam the pen down on the counter and grab my suitcase.

I’ll come get my shit later and leave my key. She can have all the fun with that man she wants now. I’m not going to stick around and watch them fawn over themselves while she gets fat carrying a child that will never truly be mine.

Fuck her and fuck him.

I have way too many other options to worry about a woman who hasn’t been what I wanted for years. She was just the only one willing to think about a child this young.

It’s rare to find lesbians who want to settle down with children before thirty. It’s the only reason I’ve stuck around really. Well no more.

“Have fun with a baby you didn’t want.” I sneer at the dark hall as I grab my keys and struggle to get outside through the snow drifts.

I shovel my car out and then sit in my car while it warms up. I call Sasha and she answers after a few rings.

“Hey babe, how did it go? Are you going to be a mama?” She laughs through the phone.

“Nope. I’m over that. I’m heading to Vegas.” She cheers and gives me her hotel information.

“See you soon.”

CHAPTER NINETEEN

COWBOY

The morning sun rays shine off the snow outside and right into my face through Lacey’s open curtains. I glance at her clock and chuckle.

“That’s a first.” My ma would have tanned my hid sleeping in this late.

“Too early. Turn the world off.” Lacey buried her face into my arm and wiggles her ass.

“Mm, if more sleep is what you want, Darlin’, I suggest you stop moving.” My morning wood is screaming at me, but I know she has to be sore cause we went at it for hours and then again in the middle of the night when I woke up still inside her.

“No more,” She flips the blanket over her head, and I chuckle.

She’s fucking adorable in the mornings.

I want this every day for the rest of my life. But first I need to get together our coffee and talk about what we did last night. In the light of the morning, I feel bad for the way that I treated Makayla.
