He just shook his head at me and said, “We’re not good together where it counts, Tori. I tried so many things, but nothing satisfies you. You can’t get off. You’re broken and I can’t deal with it anymore.”

I was so shocked, so hurt…

Even just thinking about that moment now makes me want to puke.

Because maybe Robbie’s right. It’s been three years since our breakup and I still haven’t had any luck finding a guy who can tick off all the items on my sex list.

And it makes me think that maybe he was right all along. Maybe I really am broken.

I shove aside every ugly memory and emotion fighting to resurface and force myself to focus on the present. I’m at the engagement party of my best friends. I should be celebrating them, not dwelling on how pathetic my sex life is.

Thankfully Becca and Maya don’t seem to notice that my mind was somewhere else just now.

Maya makes a disgusted face and shakes her head. “Okay, I think I’m going to puke. Listening to you talk about my TikTok thirst trap brother and my other brother on some sex list is enough to make me spew the brunch we just had.”

Becca lightly pats her on the shoulder. “I’m sorry.” Even when she winces, her pretty, delicate face remains angelic.

Maya makes a beeline for the ladies’ room with Becca following behind her.

I head back toward the dining area. When I turn the corner, I bump into a broad, firm chest.

I make an “oof” noise as a pair of massive hands gently grab me by the shoulders, steadying me.

“Whoa, you okay?” Tyler says as he peers down at me.

I shake my head. “Uh, yeah. Sorry…I, uh, wasn’t watching where I was going.”

He blesses me with a crooked grin. “It’s okay.”

For a second, I stand there, embarrassed that I have to look Tyler in the eye when a minute ago I was thinking filthy thoughts about him.

My face is on fire. I avert my gaze to the floor and clear my throat. “I’m just going to head back to the table.”

I start to walk off.

“What about your sex list?”

I freeze at the teasing lilt in his voice.

I turn around to look at him. “Oh god…you heard us?”

He rests his hands in his pockets, his broad shoulders lifting in a shrug. His mouth curves up in a playful, knowing smile. “I may have heard one or two things you guys said.”

I cover my face with my hands as the heat of humiliation consumes me.

“Oh my god…” I groan.

Just then I feel the soft, warm touch of his hands around my wrists. Gently, he pulls my hands away from my face.

“If you want to change the terms of our fake relationship agreement so that I can help you with your sex list, I’m all for it.”

I know he’s joking. It’s clear by his tone of voice and the easy grin on his face.

But there’s nothing funny or fun about this.

Because right now I want to melt into the floorboards. Just the fact that Tyler even knows I have a sex list makes me want to disappear forever.

I take a step back from him and hug my arms around myself. “Just stop, Tyler. Okay?”
