I finish the last bite of my sandwich, dart to my fridge, and pull out a roll of cookie dough.

“I made extra s’more cookie dough.”

That wide grin I adore is back. Tyler clutches a hand to his chest and looks at me. “Tori, you’re my dream girl.”

I ignore that jump in my stomach as I portion out the dough into cookies and lay them out on a baking sheet. Right as I pop them in the oven, my phone buzzes with a text from Becca.

When I see a selfie of her beaming and holding up her left hand with a sparkly cushion-cut diamond ring, my jaw falls to the floor.

I skim her text.

I’M ENGAGED!!!!!!!!!

I immediately call her.

“Bec! Oh my god, congratulations!” I’m squealing so loud that Tyler covers his ears and laughs.

My best friend sniffles and laughs before telling me that Gage just proposed to her at Red Rocks Amphitheater, a stunning outdoor venue carved into the fiery red rock landscape just outside of Denver.

For the next couple of minutes, we gush excitedly to each other.

“Tori, I have a very important question to ask you.” Becca pauses and sniffles. “Will you be my maid of honor?”

Happy tears fill my eyes as I babble “Yes!” to my best friend.

I glance over at Tyler, who’s looking at me with a sweet expression.

Becca mentions that she and Gage don’t want a long engagement.

“Taking a page out of Maya and Theo’s book, huh?” I say.

Becca chuckles. “It’s so cliché, but we don’t want to wait. We’re crazy about each other.”

Just then I hear a muffled noise on her end, then a giggle. Gage must be kissing her.

“As much as I want to talk to you right now, Bec, this is your engagement night and you should spend it having hot sex with your fiancé, not gabbing on the phone with me.”

She snort-laughs as Tyler makes a gagging noise.

“Gage said his dad closed his restaurant tomorrow morning for a family and friends brunch to celebrate our engagement and Maya and Theo’s engagement,” Becca says. “You’ll come too, right? It won’t feel like a proper celebration without you.”

“Of course I’ll be there.”

We say goodbye, I hang up my phone and turn to Tyler, who’s got a sly look on his face.

“You knew Gage was going to propose tonight, didn’t you?” I say.

“Maybe,” he says.

He tells me that Gage told him about his plans to propose to Becca a few weeks ago and made him promise not to tell anyone.

My face aches with how hard I’m smiling, still buzzing with joy for my best friend.

“Wild timing, right? I mean, first Maya and Theo get engaged, then Gage and Becca. What if their weddings are close together too?” I say to Tyler.

Just then his phone buzzes. When he looks at the screen, he groans.

“What’s the matter?” I ask.
