“One thing at a time, Bec.” I try to laugh it off, but I can’t help the joy that course through me at the thought of Tyler and I together long-term.

“I’ve never fallen this hard, this fast before,” I say almost to myself.

“It’s not really that fast,” Becca says. “You two were friends for almost two years before you started dating. Best friends. Friends falling in love makes so much sense. You have a strong foundation. Throw in sexual attraction and it’s a match made in heaven.”

I smile at how simply my best friend has put it.

“When will you tell him how you feel?” she asks.

I let out a breath. “Tomorrow night. We’re having dinner together.”

Bec grins and does an excited shimmy.

My stomach does a somersault. My entire body is buzzing with anticipation. Tomorrow night I’m going to tell Tyler I’m in love with him.

Chapter 30

Tyler

Idrop a crate of organic carrots into the walk-in at Se’bon.

My phone buzzes and I pull it from my pocket to see a text from Tori.

Can’t wait to see you tonight

Right after, she sends a pic of her boobs.

My eyes bulge out of my head. I let out a breath, relieved that no one is in here with me right now.

I type a quick reply to her.

The filthy, filthy things I’m gonna do to you tonight

It’s been almost five days since we’ve seen each other and I’m aching with the need to see Tori.

I just have to get through work this afternoon, film a new reel for my Instagram, and then I can go over to her place.

When I step out of the walk-in, I head back to the van to unload the rest of the produce for tonight’s dinner service. I’m at the back door when my dad stops me.

“When you finish unloading all that, will you stop by my office?” he asks.

“Sure thing.”

A half-hour later, I knock on the closed door of my dad’s office.

“Come in.”

When I open the door, he’s sitting at his desk, frowning at the screen of his laptop.

He looks up and gestures for me to take a seat in the chair. He closes his laptop and folds his hands on top of his desk.

“I have an important question to ask you.”

I take in his no-nonsense posture and the slight frown on his face. That’s my dad’s go-to “I mean business” stance. Something serious is about to go down.

I straighten up in my chair and brace myself.

“What is it?” I ask.
