“Because Aurora’s here? You think he won’t come at you, huh?”

“She can’t be with you every second,” Asher spoke.

“Stop it,” Aurora said. “Leave him be.”

“You’re defending the one throwing down all the provocation, sweetheart.”

“Do you actually need me to defend you?”

“Hmm. Touché.”

“That said, Killian, take it down.”

“Yeah. Okay.”

I smiled to myself.

She certainly had them handled.

“For the record, I don’t like everything the way it is,” Asher said.

“What?” Killian asked.

“The fact you still have your house back in Hexwood, an escape hatch residence.”

“Not this again,” Killian groused.

“Not this again? So you’re fine with her living separately from us then?” Asher challenged.

“Asher, we already got into this during dinner that infamous night by the pool and she—” Jonah started.

“And then we fucked and we never got a definitive plan from her,” Asher countered.

I gritted my teeth at that part, my fingers biting into the wall.

“Do you really think we can go back to Hexwood House?” Killian asked.

“Yes,” Asher answered definitively. “Once this is over, we’ll go back, return to our lives, finish school, and move on from there.”

“How?” Killian pushed. “The Infidels will be gone and everything along with it. Power, money, trust funds, the whole nine.”

“I’ve been planning this for a long time to come at them. I’ve been taking precautions, protecting us in the meantime.”

“You’re saying you’ve been siphoning money?” Jonah asked.

“You have a nest egg?” Killian added.

“More than a nest egg. We’ll be comfortable, believe me. Not merely siphoning money, I’ve invested, I have several business ventures.”

“Impressive,” Aurora said.

“You know me. I like to cover all bases.”

“Jesus, Ash, that’s really something,” Killian said.

“So, as I said, we’ll return to our lives once this is over.”

“And I’ll come with you,” Aurora announced.
