“It’s time to go.” I say, breaking their stare off.

“Sweetheart,” Reaper drawls, “a night with me and you’ll see exactly what comparison is. I last so much longer than batteries.” He winks, but as much as she tries to brush him off, I see the sparkle in her eyes.

“Fuck me.” I exhale heavily and gulp down the contents of my coffee, leave the cup on the table and head for the bedroom to grab my shirt, cut and my wallet.

I pull my tee over my head as I re-enter the room and shrug my cut onto my back, striding purposefully back into the living room. Luna is bent over in laughter at Reaper's corny pick-up lines, so I move in front of her and straighten her up, settle my hands on her face, and kiss her with everything I have in me. It’s a passionate, bruising kiss to leave her wanting more. I smile wide at herheavy gasps and reluctantly release her. “See you later, babe.” I whisper against her lips, and winking at the sultry look in her eyes, my cock twitches. I take her chin loosely in my fingers and plant another hard kiss on her lips for good measure. “I’ll be back.” God, this woman sets me on fire. I move backwards, not able to take my eyes off her, and as I reach Reaper, I grab him by his cut at the scruff of the neck and drag him along with me. “Say goodbye, fucknut.”

As I tug him away the girls call out, “See ya, fucknut.”

I lead him out of the front door and release my hold on him. We turn our heads at the same time, eyeing each other, and with a knowing smile he blows out a long whistle from his lips. “Fuck yeah.” Reaper mutters.

“Come on.” My arm hooks around his shoulder and we make our way out of Luna’s block.

CHAPTER 17

CHAINS

Rather than go straight to see what Pres has to say we stop by the bar first. I go around the back, grab two beers from the fridge, and Frisco nods in greeting. I slide one over to Reaper and lean my arm on the bar, my elbow digging into the hard counter. Gulping some of my beer down, I swallow then ask, “How was the bar after we left last night?” I look between Reaper and Frisco, since both the fuckers closed up for Luna. “Any problems?” I urge further. They both shake their heads in reply. “Did you check the perimeter when you locked up?”

“Chains, man,” Reaper groans, running his palm over his buzz cut, “we’re not some apprentice bitches. Everything was fine.”

“I’m just being careful. If he turns up again and goes anywhere near Luna, I’ll fucking gut him.”

Reaper’s bottle hits the surface hard, “Fuck man, keep your voice down.” He grits out.

“Just saying how it is, brother.” I state truthfully, moving my bottle back to my lips, and gulp down a large amount, then hear Pres’s heavy footsteps approaching. Great.

“Get in here, you two.” Pres calls out. His large frame appears in the communal room as I look up, but disappears as quickly as he appeared. I take another long pull of my beer as Reaper walks around me, cocking his head slightly, and smacks me up the back of my head.

“What the fuck was that for?” I mutter after consuming the beer in my mouth.

“You and your fucking trap., that’s what…”

“Fuck you, man.”

“You won’t say that if he heard any of that conversation and then demands to know the details.” I empty the bottle and leave it on the bar, I’ll need it to deal with him. I turn to follow Reaper as he turns back around, “And it’s his fucking daughter, you’ll have to tell him.” While Reaper is still bitching, we head down the hall towards Church, Reap goes in first and I follow closely behind closing the door behind me and make my way around the long table, I drop my ass into a chair and fold my arms on the table waiting for Pres to address us.

“Pres?” Reaper says before glancing at me.

“Have either of you seen Mac? The fucker has gone AWOL, no one’s seen or heard from him, I was wondering if either of you had?”

I feel the curl in my lip at the mention of his name but keep my wrath at bay, not letting it cross that invisible line. At least for now anyway.

“Why us?” I ask. I’m genuinely curious.

“Because some of the others have said the last time anyone saw him, he was drinking at Luna’s and I know wherever Luna is, you’ll be somewhere.”

My fists ball in my lap. “You make me sound like a fucking stalker, Pres. Have you even spoken to your daughter?” My teeth grit during the whole conversation. If he does ask Luna, she’ll get angry or upset and will spill anyway. She won’t be able to hold a poker face, which is why we said we’d handle it.

“Not yet, but I will.” A hard stare finds me from across the table. I’m sick of being treated like this.

“Why are you so concerned? He’s probably sleeping off a hangover somewhere. It wouldn’t fucking surprise me, if I’m totally honest.”

“What do you mean by that?”

“Well, it’s not like he isn’t always totally wasted is it. The last time I saw him, that guy Country had to carry him out of Luna’s.” I relay, feeling smug. Reaper eyes me but he doesn’t say anything.

“Look,” Reaper jumps in, “we’ll keep an eye out, and if we see him, we can let you know.”
