As Doc investigates, putting pressure on the wound every so often to wipe away the blood that’s still coming from it, his eyes close and his head flops to the side.

“Oh my god, Doc. What’s happening?” I cry. With two fingers he finds his pulse in his neck, then tugs his bottom lids of his eyes downward to check them too.

“He’ll be fine. Just passed out. He lost a lot of blood and needs a hospital though.”

“Oh, thank god, he’s not dead.” I say with my hand on my chest, hoping to calm my racing heart.

Levi comes back. “How is he?”

“He’ll live. But a few centimeters lower, he’d have been a goner.”

The firing stops for a moment. Levi looks around us and out into the clubhouse. Just then I look up to see Reaper pop his head up. “Chains.”

Levi nods at Reaper as he answers his silent question, and they meet in the middle to make their way out of the clubhouse.

“What do we do, Doc?” I ask, worried about the young kid on the ground.

“We need to get him to the bedroom so I can have a look at his wound. Okay…” He says mainly talking to himself, I think. “Kid,” his one eye opens a crack, “we’re going to pick you up and take you to a bedroom so I can take a look.” he nods his head. I take his feet and Doc supports his shoulders and head but as we move, he cries out again.

“Kid, this is gonna hurt. Grit your teeth, bud.”

His jaw tenses with the pain but we manage to lift him and run him down the corridor to the treatment room Doc has in the compound. Luckily, most of the gunfire has moved outside and we are able to get him out of there. I open the door, since I got the lighter part of him, and lead us inside. “Place him down slowly,” I do as Doc tells me, and we place him down in unison. Doc lifts the rag I covered his wound with, the blood is still pumping from it. “Shit the bullet may have hit an artery.”

“You said he’d be okay.” Panic begins to set in and has my hands shaking again. “You have to save him, Doc.”

He looks at me, a worried expression taking over his features as his brow creases. “I’ll try Luna, I promise.” He sighs, “I need to get that bullet out first.”

“What do you need?” I ask, ready to do whatever it takes.

His eyes scan mine briefly before going on, we don’t have much time, even I know that. “I’m going to need you to help me.”

I don’t even think about it. I have to help. I just hope Levi is alright.

I nod. “Let’s do it.”

CHAPTER 27

CHAINS

Rounds of bullets fire at us. Fuck this shit. I come from around the wall and walk toward the fuckers that are shooting at us. They’ve shot our clubhouse up; the kid has been shot. These fuckers are gonna pay.

Reaper, Frisco, Snake, Ghost, Popeye and Pres charges forward, firing at them. I hear a cry ring out and as I lower my gun, I watch one of them fall to the ground, shouting as he grips his thigh. His brother runs across the compound toward him.

“Don’t be fucking stupid.” I point the gun directly at his chest, “I will fucking shoot you; this is your only warning.”

A smirk appears on his lips. “Fuck you.”

I spend a second just glaring at the fucker, a knowing grin fixed to my lips. I know it was him who had his hands on Luna earlier today but just to buy him some time I ask the question. “Are you the cunt that had his hands on my girl earlier?”

His smirk stretches further. “Your girl?” he sniggers. “Yeah, Chains. I’ve heard about you.” He grins.

“Oh yeah? And what would that be?” I question as curiosity gets the better of me. “But I’d hurry because my trigger finger is getting really itchy…”

“I heard you killed your old man.”

“What of it?” I narrow my gaze, keeping my gun trained on his chest, ready to blow a hole through it. I know he’s buying time and I know it’s some kind of game to fuck my head up; but I’m not playing.

“Must have taken some guts is all I’m saying.” He replies staring down the barrel of my gun.
