“Not exactly, what do you mean?”

“I mean we had a big argument before I came here. He said I should be more careful basically, and that I shouldn’t be here.”

“And you think he’s wrong because…?”

“Because he is. I don’t want to be wrapped in cotton wool, Liam. This is my business.”

“See, feisty.” He nods at me, know it all. “Luna,” he stalks over and takes my hands in his. “I know you want to think that nothing will happen, but I’m not about to take that chance, babe. If anything happens to you, Chains will hunt me down and take pleasure in chopping me up and hiding my body where no fucker will ever find it. If that isn’t enough, Pres will make me suffer even more, beforehand. I’m not taking that chance.” He reiterates. His smile is tight as he watches me, “Now, do you want to make the call or shall I?”

“You’ve just said yourself, there’s no one around.”

“At the moment no; be clever Luna.”

I make a deep growl at the back at my throat, just to let him know I’m not happy, but nod anyway. “Fine!”

“Come here.” He holds his arms open for me and I slump against him. “You have to use your head, babe. We are just protecting you, is all.”

With a swift embrace, I step back. “I need to get beer from the cellar and stock the fridge up.”

“I’ll go, what do you need.”

“Just a crate of Budweiser.”

“Your wish is my command.” He bows before me making me smile and starts for the bar then says with his back to me still. “You call Chains.”

No breath is left in my lungs as I fully exhale. A bit dramatic, but still, I think I should be allowed to be dramatic when I feel like it. As Liam disappears through the bar and into the kitchen, I pull out my cell, finding Levi’s number and hit call. A warm breeze hits my back and blows my hair around, some hitting my face, forgetting the door is still open. While I wait for the call to connect, I make my way across. Just as I think it’s going to just ring out, I hear his voice. It instantly puts a smile on my face. “Hey.” I greet.

“Hey, sweetheart. Finished having your tantrum?”

I frown as I remember why I was pissed in the first place. “Maybe.” I answer with a snarky tone.

My hand is on the door ready to shut it. “I just want you safe.” I hesitate before answering. How to make someone feel bad in just a few words.

“I know. I’m sorry.” I sigh, the guilt at how stubborn I’ve been playing heavily on my mind. “I love you, Levi. So much.”

I can almost feel the smile I know he’s making on the other end. “I love you, too. Remember everything I do is to keep you safe. Is everything okay?”

“Yeah. Liam’s here. Um, actually I do have something I need to tell you.” But as I go to tell him about the car earlier, I hear the gravel crunching. Knowing I probably shouldn’t, I still head out of the door.

“Luna?” I hear Levi call me, but my curiosity gets the better of me. I look behind to see if Liam is back up but he’s not.

“Give me a second,” As I round the door and out onto the lot, I have a look around, but I can’t see anything. Maybe it’s a cat or something I think to myself in my crazy mind and turn back. “Sorry. So, on the way here I think someone was following me.”

“WHAT THE FUCK LUNA.”

“Please don’t yell at me.” My eyes roll as I can see him in my mind’s eye, grinding his teeth and gritting his jaw together.

“I’m sorry baby. But how many times do I have to tell you…” I hear the long sigh he makes. Now he’s pissed. “I’m on my way.” The thought that he’ll be here soon fills me with comfort.

But the sense that someone is behind me falls upon me full force. My stomach drops as I look around me, but I don’t see the person because his gloved hand covers my eyes while the other is tight against my mouth. I try to scream but it’s no use. I can hear Levi on the other end shouting my name.

“Don’t scream you fucking whore, or I’ll kill you right now.” My stomach clenches like an iron fist when I hear his voice. Mac. “I don’t think we’ll be needing this.” My cell is dropped to the gravel, and he stamps his boot down on to it. The screen smashes beneath his foot while I try to get him to release his hold on my head.

“Now be a good girl and let’s go inside. I call the shots now.”

I growl and scream, I do what I can to get him to release me, but it’s no use. My screams are muffled and he’s so much stronger than me.

I’m screwed.
