“Luna. Baby.” I quickly trail my eyes over her.

“Levi…” Her voice is weak as she says my name. As she lifts her hand, I see the blood covering her palm. “Fuck!”

Blood pumps from her abdomen. “Hold on, baby. Please, please don’t leave me.”

“Get an ambulance. Now!” I yell as I shrug off my cut and tug my shirt over my head to plug the wound, then I move closer, cradling her head on my legs.

She can't leave me. I need her. Her eyes flicker, blinking as she tries to focus and the small smile tugs at the corners of her mouth. “I love you, Levi.”

Tears seep out of the corner of my eyes. “Please Lu, don’t leave me.”

Sirens fill the bar and I’m soon being ripped away from her. I try to get back at her side, but I’m pulled back, and through blurry eyes I see them attach tubes and a mask to her face. I’m numb. An arm comes around me, I try to shrug it off me… “Hey, Chains, it’s me.” I then realize it’s Reaper. And for the first time since I was a kid, I cry like a baby.

CHAPTER 36

LUNA

It’s the most beautiful wedding dress I’ve ever seen in my life. Levi is at the altar; as I make my way to him, all the guys are wearing their cuts. It’s all very casual. I don’t think any of these guys could carry off suits anyway. But there was no chance in hell I was losing out on wearing a dress. I’ve dreamt of this day since I was a little girl. My dad is at my side, walking me down the short, homemade aisle, while Reaper stands next to the man of my dreams. Levi’s head turns and as our eyes meet, I smile at him as I silently approach, but he doesn’t smile back, if anything a frown fills his gorgeous face. I try to think nothing of it. I refuse to overthink that he may be having second thoughts about this.

As I step up and stand by his side my dad kisses my cheek softly. “You’ll be okay, princess. You can get through this…”

What the hell? Why would he say that to me? This is the happiest day of my life. After watching Dad step back, I turn back to Levi. Water fills his eyes as he stares back at me, with empty pools of green. They’ve lost the sparkle they always had; I don’t understand. I breathe slowly, and look around him at Reaper with a smile, and hope I get one back. He also looks at me like he’s in mourning, not a happy occasion. He dips his head, obviously not wanting to look me in the eye. Forgetting about Reaper and the others who want to spoil this for me, I concentrate on Levi and lift my head to give the minister a smile. With a small nod of his head, he looks at the bible in his hands. I glance across at Levi as I take his hand, squeezing it softly.

“I can’t believe we’re getting married.” I whisper.

“I’m sorry, baby.” It’s my turn for the frown this time.

“It’s okay. I love you.” I suck in a breath but feel a pain, stabbing sharply into the bottom of my back.

“Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today for the w…” a beep sounds out of nowhere, a deafening tone that rings in my ears. I look around but can’t make out when it’s coming from.

“Go on.” I tell the minister but as he opens his mouth to speak, it sounds again. This time though it goes on for longer.

“What is that noise?” It gets louder until I almost can’t hear myself think. Squeezing my eyes shut to blank out the noise, the pain comes again. Sharper, more agonizing this time. I reach around and rub my back. White noise fills my ears. I can’t even hear the minister anymore. I pull my hand back but it feels wet. Rubbing my fingers together, I glance down at my hand. My breath gets caught in my throat as I see the red liquid covering my palm. My head spins as my knees weaken, “Levi…I love you.” Then the beeping gets even louder. A flat, elongated beep that won’t stop. It’s fucking annoying. My top half is jolted like I’m having an electric shock.

“Come on baby, come back to me.”

I stare at him. “I’m here.” I try to make him hear me, but he can’t. I’m scared. The beeping sounds again; I’m jolted again. This time the flat beep turns into a shorter, quicker one. My surroundings change around like a scene on a stage in the theatre. I have a headache, a dry throat and as I look down my dress is gone, and in its place is a white sheet.

“Will she get through this?” I hear Levi as he speaks to someone. I can’t see anything right now, just a dark corridor with a flickering light. I feel like I’m in a horror movie. “Please tell me I haven’t lost her.” I can hear the emotion in his voice, the worry… I want to scream at l him and tell him I’m okay, but the words won’t form.

“Her stats are good but be patient, rest is good for her. Her body needs to heal.”

His breath is warm on my hand as he kisses it. “I love you so much, baby.” His words bring a smile to my face. Well, I think they do. My Levi. My heart. My eyes close again, feeling comfort knowing he is here with me. The constant beep soothes me and soon I’m falling back into a deep sleep.

CHAPTER 37

CHAINS

That beeping sound is fucking deafening in the silence of the room. I’ve stayed by her bedside night and day, with only having a handful of breaks, and when I’ve needed a few minutes, one of the others has stayed with her. I’m about ready to lose my mind now. I just want to hold her, and as much as I tell her I love her all the time as she lies there in a deep sleep, I don’t even know if she can hear me. Since the day she almost flatlined, there’s been nothing… not even a twitch of her finger.

Reaper has been with me almost the whole time, too frightened to let me go anywhere alone in case I flip my shit. My temper is bordering on crazy and I’m ready to crack.

I stare at her, her body is still with only her chest moving, proving to me that there is sign of life still within her. When she wakes up from this, I’m going to marry her. Make her mine permanently. Thinking about something other than right now has tears pricking at my eyes, I bite my cheek to stop myself from crying.

I press another soft, lingering kiss to her fingers not hearing the door opening behind me.

“Pres?” I hear Reaper say.
