“I am,” Kiana answered softly. “Thank you, Cliff.”

“I’m sure we won’t be shut down for long,” Cliff said. “Come back and see me in a few days if you want work. Both of you.”

Dev stepped out of the building before Kiana and looked around for a moment. Then, he pulled her into the curve of his arm and hustled her out to the rental car. Once she was safely in the passenger seat, he rounded the front and slid behind the wheel. “Can I see the information Cliff gave you?”

Kiana dug the folded paper out of her pocket and handed it to Dev.

He pulled out his cell phone and snapped a photo of the writing.

“What are you going to do with the information?” Kiana asked.

“I’m sending it to Hank Patterson, the leader of the Brotherhood Protectors. He has a computer guru named Swede who can find anything about anyone using a computer.”

Kiana frowned. “If the client didn’t use his real name, will Swede be able to find him?”

“Absolutely,” Dev said with a grin. “From what Hank Patterson told us, he’s good. Really good.”

“I hope he does it quickly.” Kiana stared through the front windshield. “Time isn’t standing still for Meredith. We need to get to her before the other people who are looking for her and before whoever might be holding her hostage harms her.”

“I texted Swede with a reminder that we needed the information ASAP.” He pocketed his cell phone and gripped the gear shift. “Where to now?”

“Hold on for a minute.” Kiana dug her cell phone out of her purse. “Let me call her agent and see if he’s heard from her.”

“Agent?”

“Modeling.” Kiana scrolled through her contacts and selected the number for the agent she, Meredith and Tish had used to secure modeling gigs. The phone rang four times. Kiana prepared to leave a message when a male voice answered.

“Arquette Talent Agency, Troy Arquette speaking.”

“Troy, it’s Kiana Williams.”

“Kiana, sweetheart,” he said in the effusive style Kiana remembered so well. “Please tell me you’re back on Oahu and ready to work.”

“I am back in Oahu, but I’m not looking for work.”

“No? I’m sorry to hear that. I have a job that would fit you perfectly.”

“I’m not modeling anymore, Troy,” Kiana said.

“That’s a shame,” Troy said. “I tried to get in touch with your friend Meredith, but she’s not responding to my calls or texts. I don’t suppose you know how I can connect with her, do you? I needed someone...well...yesterday.”

“When was the last time you spoke with Meredith?” Kiana asked.

“I don’t know,” Troy answered. “I suppose a little over a week ago. She called to see if I had any work for her. I’d just signed Tish for a shoot on Kauai, but I didn’t have anything at the time for Meredith. The job I have for her now came up two days ago. She usually responds to my calls within twenty-four hours.”

“Has anyone come by your office asking about Meredith?” Kiana asked.

“No,” Troy said. “Why do you ask? Has something happened to Meredith?”

Kiana sighed. “She’s been missing for almost a week.”

“Seriously?” Troy muttered a curse. “Did you check with the escort agency she used when she needed extra cash?”

Kiana stared at the Aloha Escorts office. “I just left the escort office. They haven’t seen her since her last assignment.”

“Damn,” Troy said. “I told her working as an escort was dangerous.”

“Yeah, well, we’re not the only ones looking for her. You might want to lock your doors. Tish is in the hospital after someone broke into her and Meredith’s apartment. A couple of big guys just roughed up the manager at the escort service, looking for Meredith.”
