“We’ll talk about it at the hotel so he has a chance to calm down,” Cory said, then mind-linked Elias and me.

‘It’s not as bad as he thinks, but I’m guessing he is afraid of how you might react, Elias. Let him calm down a little and get to the hotel so he can tell you what happened.’

Elias looked more confused than ever, but he nodded and let Adrien run wild in his own head, rubbing a hand up and down his back, trying to soothe him. Elias was a quiet man. Patient and calm. While I could see that he was worried for his mate, I knew he trusted Cory when he said it wasn’t too bad and Adrien just needed to get over the shock of whatever happened.

We arrived back at the hotel somewhere around one in the morning, exhausted, hungry, and relieved to have made it back without any issues. Cory made sure to order room service for everyone the moment we got in.

“Do we want to start with whatever is wrong with him?” I asked once we were all sitting in our room. Cory’s mouth tried to fight the smile when Adrien paled again.

“Do you want me to tell them, Adrien?” The poor man nodded, once again unable to say anything and burying his face in his hands.

“Well, we needed to make a scene for us to have a reason to leave early, so once you gave us the go-ahead, Adrien stood up and started accusing some man about trying to play footsies with him. I thought he was making it up to make a scene when the man to the other side of him stood up, claimed it was him trying to grope his dick with his foot, and kissed him. It... it definitely caught Adrien by surprise, but he pushed him away and yelled at him. He’s been in shock ever since.” I bit my lip, trying not to laugh at the panic-stricken look Adrien was giving his mate. Elias let out a few small growls while Cory told the story, but when he looked at his mate, his eyes softened. Elias tsked and pulled Adrien onto his lap. They were quiet as they mind-linked about it until Elias let out a loud laugh.

“You think I would believe you betrayed the mate bond? Cariño, if the kiss happened when I think it did, I didn’t feel the pain of betrayal,” he said.

“You didn’t?” Adrien asked, looking up from where he had buried his face in his mate’s neck.

“No. All I felt was a sudden feeling of disgust through the bond. Not an ounce of pain. So, no, I don’t think you betrayed me because you didn’t,” Elias said, kissing Adrien on the lips. We gave them a moment while we grinned at each other until Adrien moaned, and Cory cleared his throat to remind them we were still present.

“Now that it’s all cleared up. What happened to you?” Cory asked me.

“Umm, nothing bad. I got the job done quicker than I thought.”

“Well, I know that. You were done in like fifteen minutes. Does that have something to do with the string of curses that would make a sailor blush?” he asked.

“Yep. Definitely did.” I sighed and stood up, grabbing the laptop I brought with me. “I haven’t turned a single computer device on since we marked, considering we’re on vacation.” I blushed when Adrien smirked. “I got into the system without too much trouble, and when I went to start to run my commands, well...” I looked at all of them. “The command wrote themselves out.” No one commented for a minute, and I wondered what they were thinking.

“I don’t understand,” Cory finally commented, perplexed.

“Here, it’s better if I show you,” I said, setting the laptop on the little coffee table and motioning for everyone to come around me. “When I’m trying to make the computer do something for me, like transferring certain documents in bulk or looking for something in particular, you can either open, search for things, then transfer things over, or I can run a command to make the computer do it for me.”

I opened a new command prompt window and looked up. When Elias and Cory nodded, I continued. “You have to write a certain way, enter the syntax exactly as the computer needs in order to read and follow your instructions correctly. The computer understands it as long as you write it correctly and is able to run it. You type it into the window there, and then off it goes.” I pointed.

“Following so far,” Cory let me know.

“So when I went to type the command I wanted it to perform, this happened,” I said, and I thought about an easy command I wanted the computer to do and then placed my hands on the laptop’s keyboard. The command wrote itself and executed. A cute little fish tank appeared on the window using language symbols.

“What just happened?” Elias asked.

“And now you lost me,” Cory said at the same time.

“Tozi said it’s a gift. A gift from the Moon Goddess after mating with you, Cory. I can dictate commands to the computer without having to type them out by hand.”

“So, you’re like talking to the computer?” Elias asked.

“No. I can only give it commands the same way I would by hand.”

“Isn’t that the same thing?” Cory asked.

“No. According to Tozi, I can only make it do something I already know how to code. The difference is that I can do it so much faster now because I don’t have to type it out by hand, and it reduces the number of syntax issues to zero, which is like half the reasons why a programmer’s code fails,” I explained.

“That’s pretty fucking awesome. All I got was teleportation,” Adrien said, making Elias glare indignantly at his mate.

“I don’t know that it’s that awesome. It’s technically doing something I can already do, but it does do it instantly instead of the time it would usually take me to do.”

“No, he’s right. That’s pretty fucking awesome, Evie. Think of all the projects you want to do but you can’t do because you don’t have time. Think of all the lives you could save by writing security software without spending days looking for a missing parenthesis. Hell, you probably saved our lives tonight because you did it in ten minutes instead of an hour,” Cory gushed proudly. “You were already the best programmer out there; this puts you up in the stars while the rest are still stuck on Earth with no hope of catching up.” I blushed at how he phrased it, and the pride I could feel coming from our bond.

Room service arrived, and we ate happily, knowing that we were done. We could relax and actually enjoy the rest of the trip.
