Unknown person 2: Yessir.

“Did you google Forbidden Pleasures?” I asked them.

“There are over ten million results,” Miguel answered, grimacing.

“Okay. Leave it to me. I’ll see what I can do. Good job, guys.”

It felt like we finally had a good lead for once, and I was so fucking happy, but three hours later, I had barely made a dent in the list of places called Forbidden Pleasures, which I was sure was part of the point.

Cory dragged me out of the office at lunch time and into the conference room for lunch, where most of us ate wraps in the standing room only while we played the recording.

“I’m looking into all businesses named Forbidden Pleasures in California, but it’s goi—”

“I doubt it’ll be found on Google,” Uncle Theo interrupted. “You heard the guy. They’re the ones running the legitimate business. Forbidden Pleasures is going to be some kind of underground club. It will be for illegal activities and likely for rich people.”

“I’ll start looking in the dark web,” Dad nodded at me.

“I’ll start getting the pack warriors ready and ensure the plane is ready for take-off,” Cory added.

“No, Cory,” Uncle Lalo shook his head. “Get the plane ready, but we should only call on the warriors when we’re ready to go, and then we’re making sure they can’t text or mind-link once we tell them. We can’t risk word getting back to Nickolas. If he disappears, we’ll lose the only chance we have.”

“Goddess, I hate this,” Cory said and nodded. I went back to my office after the meeting, feeling a little better about our chances of finding the girls, but uneasy about taking the warriors on a potentially fatal mission without saying goodbye to their loved ones. All because I hadn’t been able to find the mole.

I passed my anxiety ball back and forth as I stared at the suspect list. I was missing something. I was sure of it.

Maybe we went too narrow? Tozi suggested.

Where though?

Tozi was pacing in my head, a clear sign that she was as anxious as I was and over thinking every decision we were making.

Maybe we got the height wrong?

We gave it a couple of inches of give-and-take.

Maybe their weight?

We didn’t actually input the weight into the parameters, only build, I answered. Her tail flicked at my answer, a sign of her frustration.

What about their career?

How else would they know our security?

Maybe they recently retired? Maternity leave? Maybe it’s their mate that’s the warrior and he doesn’t know what she’s up to? I could tell by her tone that she was grasping at straws now, but that actually made some sense, so I sat up straight and started playing with the parameters.

There were no warriors currently on maternity leave. Recently retired warriors added three new people on the list, and families of the warriors added another fifteen. I printed off the new list and pulled up the document Dad made identifying anyone who came in contact with or near Tori, Violet, Roger or Eddie. I immediately crossed out nine of the original suspects, having been checked by Uncle Theo already. Then I looked up a list of visitors for the two days and crossed out all the women from Blue Moon. I was left with a list of seven suspects. I cross-referenced the list with the one Dad made of anyone who had been around the four during the days where they might have made their plans and sat back. There were only two names left on the list.

It couldn’t have been Danielle. She wasn’t here for the Blue Moon Massacre and she wasn’t here when we got kidnapped. She also couldn’t have fucking done it, Tozi said with a snarl.

I agree, I said.

That left only one person on the list, but I didn’t want to believe she could have done it.

Chapter Thirty

Cory

I finished the last of the overdue paperwork my assistant, Sophie, brought into my office this afternoon to sign. I hated that the world outside seemed to keep moving without Violet and Tori being home, but to be honest, I needed the distraction. I felt so fucking useless. Everyone was working on finding them, and I was stuck babysitting and herding everyone back and forth for updates.
