“He has a foot fetish, okay? I agreed to send him ten pictures of my feet in whatever fucking pose he wanted,” she rushed out.

I put a hand over my mouth and looked down so I wouldn’t laugh at the look on James’ face. I couldn’t tell if he was trying not to explode or was shocked into silence.

“So we’ll have some more information when we arrive?” Evergreen said, the only one able to maintain a steady voice when the rest of us were doing our best not to snicker out loud.

“Yes, Mr. Roswell. Once I get them, I’ll send them right over,” Zi answered, relief that someone was pushing the conversation forward from the subject.

“Thank you,” he answered. “Is there anything else we should know?”

“The original blueprints of the warehouse are about a hundred thousand square feet between all five floors. I suggest taking both teams in and splitting up accordingly.”

“We’ll do that. Thank you again,” Markus answered.

There was silence for a moment before there was a big sigh from Zi.

“She’s the only family I had for over four years. I would do whatever it took to ensure she was alright.” The statement, I felt, was more of an explanation for her mate than us. “I’ll keep looking and see what else I can find out and do from this end.”

The call ended, and shortly after, I turned to the still stupefied James.

“Call her sweetie. You can’t be mad at her before entering something like this.”

“I’m not mad at her, Aunt Celeste,” James answered, a pained look on his face.

“Does she know that?” I asked him, and when he finally understood why I was asking him to communicate with his mate, I added, “Go into the back room and call her. We’ve still got forty minutes before we land.”

True to her word, Evergreen got the pictures we needed from Zi before we landed. We divided up into teams. Markus, David, Helios, Sebastian and Kassie were leading the groups, one for each floor.

Nat was starting with Helios, but would be floating with Gabriel, Tomas and James from floor to floor in case of bad injuries.

Theo and Sebastian asked for the lowest underground floor, stating that’s where his brother was most likely to be.

Markus took the floor above it, while Helios took the third floor, so it was a starting center point for Nat.

Kassie took the fourth floor, and David took the top floor with Rhett.

We didn’t have enough potions left, so we ensured the leaders and a few others took them so we could communicate between teams.

Sebastian ran in first when we found the entrance to the hidden parkway, using his camouflage ability. Once the front guards and valet were disposed of, we drove in with the SUVs.

A brunette came out of a side office to greet us, but she didn’t have a chance in hell of escaping back into her office when she saw us and the dead guards. Adrien ported right behind her and grabbed her by the hair.

“Where are my daughter and my cousins,” he snarled, his eyes glowing red, his fangs dropping.

“I don’t know who that is,” the woman said in a monotone voice, compelled to answer by Adrien.

“A young light-skinned woman and another dark-skinned girl of about the same age were brought together a few days ago. A man and a woman were brought in this evening.”

“They were taken to separate floors. You need a key pass to enter,” she answered, pulling a badge from her side pocket. Adrien took it, then ripped her throat out with his claws. He walked into the office and returned with another set of badges.

“Let’s go,” he ordered, passing them out to the leaders of each team and one to Nat. Evergreen pushed past him toward the office.

“I’ll remove whatever security I find,” he said, already unloading his bag and setting up.

We walked through the doorway into the warehouse and were greeted by a group of guards running our way.

They opened fire, making the large group duck and run for cover. I let my fire shield surround me and stood my ground in the hopes of protecting anyone I could behind me while Markus immediately scooped fireballs and began to make the guards scatter.

One particularly large fireball missed its target and hit a wall, hitting the halogen lights behind some fancy casing, sparks and shards flying everywhere, making the lights flicker. We found the stairs and spread out quickly enough once we made quick work of the guards, now having lost the element of surprise.
