“Still struggling with stairs, Lalo?” I teased.

“You try going upstairs at a hundred miles per hour, old man. I’m allowed the occasional misstep.”

“At least the stair railings are safe this time,” Kassie giggled from behind her mate, and Gonzalo’s blush deepened.

“You said it was cute!” he defended indignantly.

“It was! Funny too, though.”

“Bullies. That’s what you bunch are. A bunch of bullies,” my beta huffed, dropping the last bat into the box and picking it up. “You’re lucky I love you. Where do you want this?” he asked.

“Outside. We’re trying to make a small haunted house for the little ones,” Ellie said excitedly, and I saw Lalo frown.

“In June?” I asked.

Ellie shrugged. “They asked for it, and we thought it would be fun.”

“Since when is she not a little one?” he grumbled at me as he watched his baby girl walking away.

“Since she gets her wolf next year.”

“Fuck...” he sighed and walked to his mate before they followed the children.

“Fuck indeed,” I said to no one and went back to my office to get some more work done.
