I nod. “Thanks.”

She flashes us a wide grin. “I seriously love this. So much.” She turns on her heel and rushes out of the room.

“That wasn’t so hard to convince her,” Monroe says.

I smile down at her. “Yeah, I think we make a pretty good team.”

“Damn right we do.”

I can’t resist bending my head and placing a kiss on her forehead. “Thank you for this, Monroe. Are you sure? There’s still time to back out.”

“I’m not backing out, Legend.”

I wrap both of my arms around her and pull her fully into my arms, hugging her tightly. “Thank you, Mo.”

“Aw, the lovebirds,” Lachlan coos.

Monroe’s body shakes with laughter as she pulls away. She doesn’t go far. I keep one arm around her waist and hold her close to me.

“Hey, Lachlan.” She smiles at him.

“I was coming to see if you wanted to grab some lunch.”

“I actually grabbed lunch for everyone.” She points to the deli bag that’s sitting on the desk.

“You better lock this one down, Legend. I might have to call dibs.”

“She’s going to be my wife.” The words slip off my tongue as if it’s the most natural thing in the world to refer to Monroe as mine.

“So I hear.” Lachlan rummages through the bag, pulls out the sub with his name on it, and grabs a bag of chips. “Thanks for lunch, Mo.” He reaches into his pocket, pulls out his wallet, and drops some cash on the desk. “Do you think you two lovebirds can keep it PG in here while I send in the others to grab their food?”

“I don’t know.” Monroe runs her hand over my chest. “You better have them hurry.”

Lachlan’s eyes go wide before a grin tugs at his lips. “I see how this is going to go.” He wags his eyebrows.

“Get out of here. Send in the others.”

“I don’t know. I think I’ll take my time.”

“Then you can answer to them when they’re pissed my door is locked and they can’t get to their food.”

“Hey, now. This is a respectable place of business. None of that newlywed stuff going on here.”

“Make sure you remind Rome of that,” I fire back.

“You two just need to learn how to control yourselves around your wives.”

Reaching behind me, I pick up the first thing I can grab, which is a box of gloves, and toss them at him. He ducks and rushes out the door, his laughter following him all the way down the hall.

“Come on, boyfriend. Let’s take this to the break room.”

“We’re getting married. I think that makes me your fiancé,” I remind her.

“Hmm.” She taps her index finger against her chin. “Did I miss you getting down on one knee and asking?”

“Is that what you want?” My hand slides up to cradle her cheek.

She shrugs. “I mean, this might be my one and only. It might be for appearances, but I’d still like the full experience.”
