“Damn,” Lachlan mutters. “We lost another one.”

The guys all laugh, and I join them. “Trust me, man, it’s not something to run from.”

“There’s got to be something to it. These two have been smiling so fucking big, we could turn down the lights and save on the electric bill,” Forrest jokes.

“Married life is fan-fucking-tastic,” I tell them. “Going home to her is… everything.”

“Aw, Legend, do you love my bestie?” Emerson asks.

All heads turn to see her standing in the doorway to the break room. I can tell by the sparkle in her eye that she already knows the answer, but I give her one anyway.

“Yep,” I confess.

“Where’s ladybug?” Roman asks, stepping next to his wife before pulling her into his arms and kissing her.

“His wife stole her from me.” Emerson points at me.

“I didn’t steal her,” Monroe says, stepping into the room. “I’m just borrowing her for a little while. Right, Lilly bug?” she asks the drooling baby in her arms. She snuggles her close, and I’m telling you now, that’s going to be us sooner rather than later.

“Hey, gorgeous.” I go to her and slide my arm around her waist. I drop a kiss on her lips before doing the same to the top of Lilly’s head. “What are you ladies getting into today?”

“Girls’ day is off to a good start. We had breakfast, then took this little cutie for her checkup, and next, we’re going to get some lunch.”

“And what would a girls’ day be without visiting our favorite guys?” Emerson adds.

“But I’m your absolute favorite, right, baby girl?” Roman asks his wife.

I block them out and bend my lips to my wife’s ear. “Missed you.”

She smiles up at me. “It’s been a handful of hours.”

“Too long.”

Lilly reaches out and pats my face, giving me a toothless grin.

“Come here, you.” I take her from Monroe and blow kisses on Lilly’s bare belly where her little shirt has ridden up. She cackles with laughter.

“You need one,” Roman says, reaching for his daughter. Her smile widens when she sees her daddy, and he takes her from my arms.

“Whenever my wife tells me we’re ready.” I look down at Monroe, who’s staring up at me with a soft expression on her face.

“By the look you two are sharing, I’d say the Everlasting Ink family will be growing soon.”

“We did always say we wanted our kids to grow up together,” Emerson speaks up.

“We’ve been married for a hot minute.” Monroe laughs off their remarks.

“These two didn’t even need to be married.” Lachlan points to Roman and Emerson.

“Don’t remind me,” Forrest mutters.

“We should start a betting pool,” Maddox suggests as he reaches into his back pocket and pulls out his wallet. “I got twenty, it will be before your first anniversary.” He tosses a twenty-dollar bill down on the table.

“Wait, we need to write this down.” Forrest pulls his phone out of his pocket and starts typing away. “I’m going with by the end of the year.” He places his phone on the table while he tosses his own twenty out.

“You know we’re standing right here.” I laugh. I really do love these assholes.

“You want in?” Lachlan asks.
