“I don’t want to do anything you’re not ready for.” His words sound pained but insistent.

“I don’t have any problem with you collecting on your winnings, TD. In fact, I really hope you do.” To prove my point, I grab his hand and place it against my side beneath my own sweater.

He groans, flexing his fingers before gently gripping my flesh. I move my hand and allow him to explore, leaning forward and pressing my lips against his once more. This kiss is slower, but still packs quite the punch, as his hand begins to move up. His fingertips trace the cup of my bra before he cups my breast in his palm. His index finger glides over my pebbled nipple as his tongue plunges into my mouth. I can feel his cock, hard and ready, against the apex of my legs, and it seems to only intensify my desire as he lightly strokes my nipple.

A whimper falls from my mouth as I rock my hips, trying to get closer to the glorious friction. Sadly, I could actually get off like this, with just enough pressure between my legs, but he doesn’t take it any farther. The kissing is hot, and his hands feel amazing against my body, but second base is as far as it goes.

After what feels like hours of making out like teenagers, he pulls back and whispers, “You better get inside. I heard something about a curfew, and I’d hate for you to miss it.” TD strokes my swollen bottom lip with the pad of his thumb.

“You’re probably right, it’s getting late.” I pull back and meet his hungry gaze. Then, I slide off his lap and climb back over to the passenger’s seat, noting how steamed up the windows are.

Okay, well that’s a little embarrassing.

TD climbs out of the truck and walks around to my door, helping me down. Once the door is closed, he guides me to the entrance to my apartment and pauses just outside. He pulls me into his arms and whispers, “Best. Bet. Ever.”

A giggle slips from my mouth as he brushes his lips against my own. “I’d lose a bet like that again in a heartbeat.”

He laughs and pulls back, putting distance between our heated bodies. “I’ll text you.”

“When you get home,” I insist, wanting to make sure he arrives safely.

“Of course. Night, El,” he murmurs before kissing me one last time. “Lock up behind you.”

“Night, Thomas.”

I have no idea how I walk into the building and climb the stairs. It feels like I’m floating, my feet not even touching the ground. I slip inside the apartment quietly, listening as his truck starts and pulls out of the lot.

Just as I close and lock the door, I spin around and lean my back against it. A grin takes over my face as I replay the hot and heavy make-out session that just transpired in TD’s truck.

“You’re late, young lady.”

My eyes widen as I see Brody standing in the mostly dark kitchen, his arms crossed over his chest and a stern look on his face.

Busted by my seventeen-year-old.

Could this be any more mortifying?

Chapter Eighteen

TD

Dating my best friend is awesome.

It’s been almost four weeks since our hot and heavy make-out session in my truck, and even though we haven’t taken it any farther, I’m having an amazing time with her. We steal moments together where we can, kiss as often as possible, and text or talk on the phone way later than we should. Every day these feelings I have for her grow deeper and become harder to fight.

This weekend is a big one for us. I’ve invited her to go camping with me, and surprisingly, she agreed. Of course, we’ll be staying in Logan’s cabin, which I’m certain is the reason why, but that’s okay. The cabin is much more comfortable than the tent and sleeping bag anyway. Plus, the temperature has transformed from gorgeous fall weather into the beginning of bitter winter, but that’s October in northwest Wisconsin for you.

First, I have to get through tonight’s game.

Brownville is the top program in our conference and currently undefeated with two games left in the regular season. We sit at a five and two record, with our two losses being incredibly close, hard-fought games. Tonight is going to be a true test of will, power, and determination for my boys, but I believe they have it in them.

I head for the locker room to give my team a final pep talk before we take the field. When I get the door open, I can hear voices. Instantly, I recognize Brody, Matt, and Dorian giving them the speech I was about to give. Not the exact wording, but the gist is the same, so instead of rounding the corner and taking my place before the team, I remain where I stand and let the three outgoing seniors take care of it for me.

“Make your plays, hold your positions.”

“Stay low, especially on D. This team is bigger and faster, so we have to stay low and put our shoulders into them. Backers need to be able to see behind their line, so keep them low.”

“And wrap up. Their speed is their biggest asset, so when you zero in on your target, wrap up and hold on tight.”
