I lean against the banister and fold my arms. “Yeah, he’s a good friend.”

We’re keeping our relationship quiet, and I’ve decided that includes keeping my father in the dark. Especially my father.

He rubs the back of his neck and grimaces. “Just… be careful, will you?”

“What’s that supposed to mean? I thought you wanted us to be friends?”

“I’m glad you’re making friends at school, particularly with the president’s son.” His words are slow and measured, using the same tone I imagine he uses when speaking about delicate diplomatic matters. “But his family is involved in a lot of corruption with some shady players, and I don’t want you getting sucked into that. So, keep him at arm’s length, okay? Don’t get too involved.”

Yeah, too late.

Chapter 18

Willow

We’re supposed to be keeping our new relationship a secret, but Alek has spent the first hour of our lecture playing with my hair. Concentrating on the lesson is hard, especially when his hand sweeps my tresses over my shoulder to rub my neck.

I have to bite my lip to keep from moaning.

My thighs are pressed together in a poor attempt to clamp down on my raging desire. Once again, I opted to go without panties today, and I’m starting to regret that decision given how wet I am from Alek’s touch.

When Mrs. Marshmallow dismisses us for break, I’m the first person to the door. As I pass the desks, the other students stare at me, and I’m certain once I leave the room, they’ll be talking about the video again.

But I have the perfect thing to keep me distracted from all that.

I pause on the threshold, peering over my shoulder at Alek.

As expected, his eyes are on me, and when I nod for him to follow, his face breaks out into a wicked grin.

Stepping into the corridor, I find myself alone. My footsteps echo against the marble floor as I make my way toward the end of the hall. At the corner, I stop, but I don’t have to turn around to know Alek is following me, stalking me silently like a cat. I feel his dark presence.

I continue around the corner and head down another hallway. Where I’m going, I’m not entirely sure, but it’s not about the destination.

It’s all about the chase.

Alek’s footsteps are inaudible, but the prickles on the back of my neck tell me he’s closing in.

And when I turn down another empty corridor, I break into a sprint.

A thrill weaves its way through my body and makes my heart race. Blood pounds in my ears, mixing with the sounds of my labored breath and my footsteps falling heavy beneath me.

I take another turn down a hallway I’ve never seen before. This path has no windows, and the further I run, the darker it gets.

My footsteps slow when I see the dead end ahead. My competitive nature will not let me lose to Alek, as much as I want him to catch me. I don’t want to make this easy for him.

I rush to the closest door and tug, only for it to be locked. Rattling the handle, I try again to no avail.

“You’ll never be able to hide from me, malishka.”

His voice is an ominous whisper at my ear. I scream, flinging myself around to find Alek standing only inches away. He towers over me, his dark figure looming closer to push his hips against mine.

And the throbbing hardness there makes me release a shuddering sigh.

“Did you do as I asked?”

I blink. “W-What?”

His foot nudges my feet further apart, and when his finger reaches beneath my skirt, I stop breathing. When he runs it along my opening, his eyes glint with mischief.
