All the blood in my body went cold.

“There’s also a picture of the two of you together,” Henn continued. “Holding hands. Nothing else is going on but the way you’re looking at each other is telling. From what I can see, I think the picture was taken when you were filming a scene. Either that, or just before or after.”

“How do you know that?”

“Reed has a mustache and we both know he can’t grow enough facial hair for that.”

“Christ, who would do that to us?”

“Is the set closed?”

“Pretty much. There was only one scene we shot where we were walking the grounds.”

Had I reached for Reed’s hands when we stopped filming? Without realizing?

“I’ve got a call with Jared in five minutes. I want to know who took that fucking picture. If it’s one of the crew, it’s a violation that will have legal consequences,” Henn paused. “How do you want to handle this? Deny and deflect or do you want to move up your timeline?”

I cleared my throat.

The shock had worn off and I was surprisingly steady. “I don’t see any point in denying the truth any longer. Even if I am pissed at how this happened.”

“Also, your socials are very active. There are a lot of supportive comments but be warned, there are hateful ones too. Your following has dropped about ten percent since the story broke.”

My stomach flipped over at her comment. This was what I was dreading.

Not coming out, but not being in control of when and how. And all the ‘what-ifs’ when it came to my career from here on out.

Would the riptide I was about to swim into sweep me under or was I strong enough to stay calm and ride it out?

“Me and Reed,” I started, my throat suddenly tight. “It’s real, Henn. I was going to tell you this week?—”

“It only took you ten years,” Henn grumbled.

Despite my shock, I laughed at her put out tone.

“Seriously, I’m happy for both of you,” she assured me, “Even if I think two actors in a relationship is just asking for trouble. But we need to talk about how you want to handle this.”

“I need to discuss it with Reed first.”

“Do that.”

“I’ll call you back before we have to report to set.”

“Don’t go until I talk to Jared.”

“And delay filming?”

“If you have to, yes. Call me back in half an hour,” Henn demanded and hung up.

My hands were shaking as I turned on my notifications. The incessant buzzing that unleashed made my anxiety spike.

I turned around and looked at myself in the mirror.

I expected to see devastation but all I saw was me.

Tired, but happy.

Worried, but not completely freaked out.
