Feeling better, I made my way upstairs. I brushed my teeth, gargled with mouthwash, and then hopped in the shower.

By the time I came back downstairs, Reed had lunch laid out in the living room.

“Hey,” I murmured, suddenly feeling all kinds of shy.

Which was not like me at all.

I walked around and sat down beside him on the sofa.

“You don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to, but how did your call go?” he asked as he poured a cup of green tea.

“Good. I still have the urge but it’s not as strong.”

Reed smiled and leaned over to kiss me.

“Jared called while you were in the shower,” Reed added. “Filming resumes tomorrow and they’ve added more security. Also, Aiden and Alex are driving up from London. They’re going to be in town for a few days and wanted to know if we’d like to get together.”

“That would be great.”

The more friendly faces around me, the better.

“I know this is a huge step for you. But I’m right here and I’m not going anywhere. There will always be haters and naysayers. But they don’t get to control our lives. Their opinions don’t matter.”

I nodded. I knew Reed was right.

But it was going to take time for me to get there.

CHAPTER 30

REED

Tate’s world didn’t come to an end when we walked out our front door the next day.

The complete opposite.

Korry arrived by car to escort us to set, and yes, there were several paps waiting on the street to photograph us. But they were respectful and kept their distance.

I was doing the same with Tate, unsure what kind of PDA, if any, he wanted to show. I was never big into hand holding, but then again, I’d never been public with a man that I was head over heels in love with.

Tate surprised me by taking my hand and interlocking our fingers.

Flashes popped and reporters shouted. Both of us flinched, but our hands didn’t separate.

Not on the way to the car. Not on the car ride over. Not even when we arrived on set.

Jared was the first to greet us, glancing at our joined hands.

He seemed hesitant at first to say anything. Which wasn’t like him.

Until Tate let go of me and reached over to hug him.

“I’ve been worried about you guys,” Jared admitted. “And I’m still pissed that I haven’t been able to identify who took that photo.”

Tate waved him off. “If you find them, great. If not, whatever. I don’t want to spend any more time worrying about whoever that asshole is. It’s not worth our time. I have nothing to hide.”

“Tate’s right,” I added. “We’re not going to run.”

Jared nodded and walked us back to the set where the crew, upon seeing us, began to clap and whistle.
