“How did you do all this?” he asked me.

“With a lot of help from me,” Henn piped up.

“Did you pick out the ring too?” Reed asked her.

“No,” I proudly declared. “I did it myself.”

“That’s a lot of diamonds, Tate.”

“I need everyone to know you’re taken. This way, even from afar, they’ll spot your ring.”

After we’d hugged everyone, and took a thousand photos, I pulled Reed aside for a quiet moment.

“Are you sure you like it? I could always?—”

Reed silenced me with a kiss.

“It’s beautiful, love. I’m never taking it off.”

“Next week we can go and pick out my ring.”

“It’s a date.”

“Speaking of dates, when do you want to get married?” I asked him.

“Um, we just got engaged,” he whispered. “Don’t you want to take your time?”

“I’m ready now. I don’t want to wait.”

Reed stared at me and smiled. “In that case, why don’t we pick your ring sooner rather than later and go to the courthouse next week?”

“Just the two of us?” I asked.

“I’m sure we can convince my family to stay a few more days.”

“Let’s do it.”

I pulled Reed back into the chaos of the party and whistled to get everyone’s attention.

When the chatter finally quieted, I raised my hand. “We have another announcement to make?—”

“You’re pregnant!” Rissa called out.

“Not yet,” I clapped back. “We’re getting married next week, and everyone’s invited!”

More shouts, claps, and hollers rang out around us.

“You know what this means?” Dylan added. “Bachelor party!”

“Oh no,” I said at the same time Reed called out, “Yes!”

“I know just the place,” Dylan winked. “Leave it with me.”

I glanced at Dylan and shook my head. I could only imagine the kind of debauchery that he had in store for us.

I was about to reply when Reed tugged my hand and pulled me into the hallway again.

Alone, just the two of us.
