“It’s awesome that they made you feel like part of the family.”

“It’s not just that they make me feel like I’m part of it. They make me feel loved. And that’s such a gift. I never want to take that for granted.”

“So you want something special that will let them know you appreciate them. I can understand that.”

He scoffed and shook his head. “Yeah, and nothing like a last-minute gift to show that, right.”

“Enough of that. Like I said, if you don’t find it here, we’ll find it tomorrow. Now let’s keep looking.”

As we turned down the next row of booths, we walked by one with some goat milk soap and homemade shampoo bars. We stopped at one that had some hand-wrapped crystals made into all kinds of jewelry. I bought my sister Becca a pendant I thought she would like before we moved on. The booth next to that one was Donovan’s, where he was selling fresh honey.

“Hey, Nash, good to see you.” He stuck out his hand, and we shook.

“You, too. Have you met Spencer?”

“I have.” He flashed Spencer a grin. “Well, not officially, but you were the nurse who took care of my nephew last summer when he needed stitches after a mishap on the farm.”

“I remember,” Spencer said. “You’re Maverick’s husband, right?”

“I am,” the big man said proudly. “He’s around here somewhere. He wanted to go check out the booths.”

“There’s a lot of really cool stuff.”

“Looks like it. I don’t have anything right now but honey, but we’ll be having the farmers’ market back here starting next month, and I’ll have fresh vegetables, as well as fresh-cut flowers.”

“Oh man, I love fresh-cut flowers.” Spencer beamed, and I tucked that little bit of knowledge away for later.

“Really? What are your favorites?” Donovan asked.

“I don’t know. I’m not a huge fan of roses. I know that seems weird ‘cause, like, everyone loves roses, right? But I’m more fond of wildflowers. Well, wildflowers and sunflowers, there’s just something about sunflowers that makes me happy.”

“That doesn’t seem weird to me at all.”

“We’ll be sure to check out your booth when the farmer’s market starts, but we better keep moving since we’re blocking your booth.”

“Wait, I want to get a jar of honey before we go.” Spencer picked up a medium-sized jar off the table and looked at it. “I love to put honey in my tea.”

“Awesome. It’s local honey that I harvest from my own hives.”

When they finished up the transaction, I took the bag of honey in my left hand and took his hand again with my right. “Let’s see what else we find.”

As soon as we moved on, Spencer let out another of his cute little huffs. “I can carry my own stuff.”

I just chuckled. “Of course you can, cutie. Doesn’t mean you’re going to.”

We continued down that row until Spencer came to a stop. “Look at those.” He pulled on my hand and dragged me over to a booth selling framed prints of the night sky of any date you picked.

“My grandparents love to look at the stars. My grandfather can point out every single constellation and knows where all the planets are located. They like to go out and lay in a double hammock in their backyard and star watch.”

“Do you know their exact wedding date?”

“I do. This would be perfect.”

The woman running the booth was helping another customer, so we had to wait our turn. I just hoped she could have it finished in time for him because it would be a very thoughtful gift.

As soon as she’d finished up, the woman turned to us. “Can I answer any questions for you?”

“You can do any date?”
