He spits at me and it lands on my face, the dirty fucker.

“In a few hours, you’ll simply go into respiratory failure. If you survive that, I’ll let you kill me. But you won’t.” I stand and turn his music up, placing his phone next to him before reaching for the ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign and place it on his door as I duck out.

“Goodbye, fuckwit. Die slowly and painfully… it will make me very happy.”

He groans and I turn to offer a small wave before I shut the door behind me.

Fixing my wig and checking my clothes, I step down the stairs.

The boys aren’t back, yet.

So, I sit and wait, while watching the stairs intently.

Finally, they step back in, one hour later. I’m still sitting in the same position, eagerly hoping no one checks on that bastard Mack upstairs. I don’t even learn his surname, not that I need to.

Ace steps out, spots me and smiles. “You stayed.”

I nod, standing.

“She has to go,” Carter states as he walks past me. The music stops as I look past Carter and back to Ace.

“You can find your own ride, right?”

I nod, not sure what to say.

Ace leans in, kisses me on the lips, and pulls back keeping his hand on my face. “Fuck, you’re beautiful.” His words sound so genuine that I can’t help but blush. “I’ll be back for you.”

I nod, turn and he slaps my ass as I walk out the door with all the other guests who were kicked out as well. I take one last look at the stairs as I step outside, the smile not leaving my mouth at what I’ve finally achieved, knowing that in a few hours he will be dead. And they won’t even know.

I call an Uber the minute I hit the street. A few cars stop to give me a lift, but that’s not happening. I might have a death wish, but I want to choose how I die and that’s not by getting into a stranger’s car and being killed. My Uber arrives minutes later, and the drive isn’t long before arriving at my temporary apartment. It holds nothing of personal value, just the essentials. I haven’t called a place a home since my parents were killed. Nothing ever feels like home, not even my uncle’s place. Honestly, he feels more like my Drill Sargent than family.

“You’re home late.” I jump at his voice.

My uncle’s put on so much weight lately, his belly is massive from too much beer, and he doesn’t even bother to hide the gray in his hair anymore. I didn’t expect him tonight, he lives in a house further away from me. Him sneaking into my space is expected though, he isn’t the type to call.

“I met them.”

He sits up straighter. “How many?”

“Four. But I killed one of them,” I tell him straight up.

He smiles. “Good.” His eyes check me over. “You aren’t hurt?” he asks with a touch of concern. He doesn’t normally show concern for me so I’m confused.

“No, not yet. But it’s bound to happen.”

He nods in agreement. “You used it?” He nods to my bag.

I pull out the baggie and smile. “Yes. It was quite beautiful the way it worked.”

My uncle stands, walks over, and grabs it from me. “Tell me all about it.”

A knock on my door startles me, and my Uncle Max slides the baggie back into my hand before he steps over to the back door, turns back to look at me then he slides outside.

Straightening my skirt, I go to the door. “Who is it?”

“It’s me, I saw you come in.”

I pull the door open to see a smiling Heather. She doesn’t wait for an invitation before she pushes in and goes straight for my bed. “I saw you get dropped off. I had to come so you can tell me everything.”

“Nothing to tell.”

She looks at me, confused. “How is there nothing to tell? You’ve been gone for a few hours.” It’s closer to two hours. “Did you sleep with one of them? Perhaps the one that wouldn’t stop grabbing you?”

I shake my head. “No, Heather.” Reaching for my bag, I place it in my closet so she can’t see what’s inside.

“I bet you wanted to.” She sits forward as if I’m about to tell her every little secret I have. That will never happen.

“No. Now, how about you go back home, Heather. I’m tired and in need of sleep.” I omit the fact that I need to wash myself, because I need that guy off of me now. And any reminders of him gone.

“But…”

I shake my head, putting up my hand to quieten her. “Heather… I need to sleep. I’m tired.”

She starts to nod her head while standing from my bed.

“Look, maybe tomorrow we can catch up?”

Heather smiles as she walks to the door, opening it. “Issy.”
