Neo groaned, the sound bordering on pain. “Haven’t even made you come yet, sweetheart.”

She licked her lips, and laid her cheek against his chest while her breathing slowed. “I wouldn’t know. I don’t think I, ah, ever have.” Heat scored her cheeks. Why had she admitted that out loud?

“Christ, sweetheart. When I take you there, you’ll know. There will be no mistaking it.”

There was a light knock on the door. “Guys, we’re taking Jacob to the park across the street. Back in an hour.”

“Be careful,” Neo barked back. When the front door to the apartment slammed shut, he sighed and buried his face in the crook of her neck before pulling back and studying her face.

“Brynn, make no mistake, I want you, but when I’m moving inside you, there will be no fear surrounding us. It will just be you and me.” He lowered his head, kissing her in slow, soft strokes. His taste was intoxicating. The feel of his hard body beneath her hands, grounding. He shifted, bracing himself above her. “I’m a selfish bastard, though.” His teeth playfully dragged at her bottom lip. “And you’re not leaving this bed until I have the taste of your first orgasm on my tongue.”

Her body reacted instantly to his crass words, and a flush of warmth settled between her hips. She tilted her head back, exposing her neck. He nibbled at the delicate skin of her collarbone.

“Arms up,” he demanded and she immediately submitted. There was something sensual and exciting about following his command. Down to her soul, she knew he would never intentionally hurt her. That he only sought to give her pleasure and happiness. He peeled the shirt up and over her head, then reached behind her back and unclasped her bra, tossing it to the floor. He immediately lowered his mouth, flicking his tongue against one stiff peak, sucking and nipping, before shifting to the other side. She was writhing against him. Her panties were soaked as he continued to move lower. That had never happened before, and she wasn’t sure if she should be embarrassed or if it was normal.

He grazed and licked a trail down her rib cage and stomach, still plumping and caressing her breasts as he continued his exploration. She was panting, her groin throbbing in painful waves.

“I get it now. Everything feels so good, but it’s too much.”

She felt his lips curve against her skin, and he looked up, desire burning in his eyes. “I haven’t even gotten started yet.”

He pushed off of the bed and, hooking his hands behind her knees, pulled her closer to the edge. The rough pads of his fingers skimmed along her waist as he positioned them at the top of her jeans and tugged, removing the material, underwear and all, in one fluid motion. She closed her legs, suddenly feeling too exposed.

His gaze raked over her body before he kneeled on the floor at the end of the bed. “You’re gorgeous.” He caressed her hips reverently. “Fucking perfection.” His voice was low and gruff, making her heart pound even harder. “Open your legs, sweetheart.”

She dropped her knees to the side, feeling more than a little self-conscious at the intimate position. With a wicked grin he lowered his head and nipped her inner thigh, soothing the light sting with his tongue. His ragged breaths caressed her exposed skin, and when he dragged his tongue up her center, she fisted her hands in the sheets. Her mind went blank as he circled his tongue around her opening, and all she could do was feel. A shudder swept through her as his tongue teased her inner folds. The sensations were too much and not enough at the same time. She let go of the sheets and raked her fingers over his short hair. A groan broke from his lips, vibrating straight through her.

She continued to massage his scalp as he licked the flat of his tongue up to her clit. Her hands fell back to the sheets, trying to find something to hang on to as he lapped and stroked at the sensitive bundle of nerves. When he pressed one finger inside her, she bore down, welcoming the pressure. Her breath was coming in shallow pants. She squirmed against his tongue and fingers. Maybe she’d be embarrassed by her actions later, but right now, her thighs were quaking as she rocked her hips against him. When a second finger stretched inside her and he sucked her most sensitive spot, pleasure exploded within her until she was shuddering and slicked with sweat. Aftershocks seized her body, and he gentled his touch, bringing her down slowly.

She lay on the bed, temporarily stunned, trying to drag oxygen into her lungs. Neo had been right. If she’d had an orgasm before, she certainly would’ve known. She was still trapped in a haze of sensation when the mattress dipped and he settled beside her. He didn’t pressure her for words or conversation, instead caressing slow circles over her skin.

Neo had given her so many firsts. He was the first man to hold her while she slept, the first to ignite her body with one kiss. The one who brought her insurmountable pleasure. He was also the first man she’d lost her heart to. He was right that these feelings were too soon, but there they were nonetheless. All the people who’d let her down groused in the back of her mind, but she brushed the thought away. Neo was different. After her nana had died, she was convinced there wasn’t anyone she could rely on but herself. The honorable SEAL at her side proved her theory wrong every single day. It was up to her to take the chance and see what would happen if she placed her faith in him.

Chapter Seventeen

Neo lay beside Brynn, listening to her breathing as it evened out. Her taste was still on his tongue, the feel of her fingers digging into his scalp branded into his mind. Every little sound and whimper she made was committed to memory. The way she’d exploded beneath his touch had given him a profound sense of satisfaction. He would forever treasure being the first man to bring her to the edge, to give her such mindless pleasure that she gripped his headboard and bowed against him. She set off something primal within him, and he wanted to claim her as his own. Little did she know that she already held his heart and body. No one but her would ever do. She was it for him. Another woman would never set foot in his home, certainly not his bed. The mere thought of it was abhorrent. He’d never loved a woman before and he’d never love another again.

“Brynn.” He propped himself up on his elbow. Her hair was mussed, the black strands tangled over his white sheets. Her skin was still flushed, and for a moment, he thought she’d fallen asleep. Then she opened one eye and peeked at him, before quickly closing it again. “What are you doing?” He chuckled.

She opened her eyes and rolled to her side, facing him, but she stared at his chest and cleared his throat. “Was…ah…was that okay?”

His heart expanded, swamped with love. His girl hadn’t been shy with his hands and mouth on her, but now she was avoiding his stare and had a healthy blush blooming over her cheeks. He gently lifted her chin. “Don’t hide from me. What you gave me was a gift. I should be asking if you’re okay.” He rubbed his thumb over her jawline.

“That was so much more than I thought it would be. I don’t think there’s a word that describes how you made me feel. But what about you?” Her eyes moved down his body, stopping at the swell in his jeans.

“There’ll be other times for that.” Getting Brynn off had been incredible in itself, and he meant what he said. He planned to have a lot more time with her. Forever. “This was about you. Learning what you like.”

“I liked everything.” A shy smile quirked her lips.

“Glad to hear it.” He stroked the tips of her hair. So damn soft. “I did, too. Don’t think I’m ever going to get enough of you.” He breathed her in. There would be a time soon that he’d have to go weeks, maybe even months without honey and lavender filling his nostrils. Knowing she was waiting for him, though? That would carry him through. “But if there’s a time when you don’t like something I do, inside or outside the bedroom, I need you to tell me. It would gut me if you were upset or went along with something you didn’t want because you thought it would please me.”

“That goes both ways, you know.” Her grin broadened. A flash of radiance that tore the oxygen from his lungs.

“Deal,” he said after a moment. “I promise not to hide anything from you. That is, things that don’t have to do with my job. There will be stuff I can tell you about where I’m going and what I’m doing, but for the most part I won’t be able to share. I’m bound to silence in some areas. Is that going to be a problem?”

“I understand why and it’s okay. Just don’t keep things you can tell me, things that bother you bottled up, okay? I don’t want to hand you over all my baggage if you’re not going to let me unpack yours now and again.” She kissed the tip of his nose, a tender gesture that unlocked a surge of peace within him.

He smiled at her, loving every single thing about this moment. “Okay, then. I’ll let you sort my shit, too.”
