I never thought it would be possible to be this happy again, but here we are. Somewhere where the past is a whisper and hope brightens every passing second. The longer we lie in silence, watching the movie, the more I think over the last few months we’ve had together. It seems like forever and nowhere near long enough at the same time. I would keep her at my side night and day if I could.

That thought is what makes it click.

“Come with me tomorrow?”

“To your parents’ home?” asks Summer with surprise, widening her eyes.

“Yeah. It’ll be dinner and…” Deciding to be completely up-front and honest, I tell her, “I would like you to join me and East for the weekend. We can go to the beach, and my mom can get to know you. I would like you to meet my parents.”

Well, Mom.

“Are you sure? It’s sort of a big deal.”

“It is a big deal because you are important to me and Easton, and I want them to know that.”

“Okay.” Pressing a kiss to my chest, Summer nuzzles deeper into me.

The movie ends far too soon, and while I don’t want to say goodbye, I kiss Summer to the elevator.

“Call me when you get home.” I press another kiss to her lips before letting her go. “I’ll pick you up at eight tomorrow morning. Don’t forget to pack a bathing suit.”

“Sure…Daddy,” Summer laughs as the doors close.

“I’ll spank you for that tomorrow.”

“Can’t wait.” Blowing me a kiss, she winks at me before disappearing behind the doors.

Summer gapes at the wide gates of my parents’ long drive. It’s obvious she’s nervous as the driver Mom sent to pick us up from the airport slowly rolls to a stop in front of the double entrance doors.

“Holy fu…ah, crap!” Terror widens her eyes as she glances at me. “First you show up at my place with a chauffeur, then you take me on your jet…and now… Oh God…Parker…”

“Relax, baby.” I try to maintain a calm demeanor for her sake, even though I’m close to freaking out that she’s freaking out.

I don’t want all of this to come between us or change the way she sees me.

With a nod, Summer takes a deep breath before she asks, “This is where you grew up?”

“No.” Reaching for her hand across Easton’s car seat, I swallow down the instant foreboding heaviness that settles in my chest and swells in my throat. “My parents bought the estate after my brother…ummm…after Jenson passed. Before that, they lived in Malibu.”

“I thought we were driving to your parents’ place, and I had all these pictures in my head of this really cute house…”

“I would have driven, but the five-hour drive to Pebble Beach isn’t great with a toddler. Besides, I enjoyed our mile-high romp.”

“Me too,” she giggles, squeezing my hand.

“I know it’s a lot to take in, and if it’s too much, we ca—”

“It is a lot to take in, but it’s a part of who you are, right?”

I nod.

“Next time, give a girl warning so she doesn’t wear a peasant’s outfit to a palace. As much as I love Cinderella, I have no intention of losing one of my shoes. That’s two shifts and tips right here…” Pointing down at her feet, she leans closer. “God, you’re so lucky I love you.”

“I a—” My reply is cut short as I’m about to kiss her and my door opens behind me.

“Where are my boys?” Mom asks.
