And because it's Ky, and he makes it feel so easy, he lets out a small, hoarse-sounding laugh.

“I think we should go join them in there. Let’s get cleaned up before Ven tries to start round three.”

I pull back a little and silently hold his gaze.

His lips tip up into that cheeky smirk I want to kiss off his perfect face. But then his expression changes, and he looks a little sheepish. “Although…I’m pretty sure you just fucked all our brains out, so maybe our girl is safe for now.”

My lips roll together and I gently ease out of him.

“You ok?” He’s looking at me, and I want to dive into him again.

I nod and help him sit. We’re definitely not just brothers anymore.

“That was…”

He smiles and takes my arm. “Yeah. That was…”

And we don’t need to say anymore. We’ve known each other for so long; it’s a whole language we don’t need to exchange in order to know each other’s thoughts.

An unfamiliar noise startles me.

I’ve been curled up in one of the loungers beside the pool, sketching designs for the past few hours, and the alert on my phone that disrupts the quiet daydream I’ve been in sounds different from usual.

A fluttering sensation occupies my chest.

Is it Thorne?

Or my wolf?

I’ve never felt confident enough to dare send a message to either of them, and they haven’t bothered with contacting me unless it’s face-to-face. Or, is that until now…

My eyes nearly pop out of my head. There’s a message from Em on my screen, and her contact has been saved in my phone without me realizing.

Queen Emerald

It's happened, hasn't it?

I hurriedly tap my reply. There’s no way I’m going to miss an opportunity to actually text my bestie. Whoever was pretending to be me has obviously felt like I can finally be trusted with being in contact. Mentally, I make a note that I really need to grill my men about this entire situation.

Acting nonchalant, like it has been me texting her this whole time…because, you know, ruses and lies and death threats and all.

What has?

I can see your eyelashes batting from here.

They are not.

You’re blushing
