That’s when I finally notice Cy’s joined us. “He’s been having someone follow us,” he says.

“What? Why didn’t you tell us?” Sage exclaims.

I hear Cy mumble a small “I did tell you” under his breath.

Cy crosses his arms and plants himself in preparation for the outburst that is sure to come.

“Cy. Why the fuck didn’t you say anything?” Sage’s anger is building, and I can see her protective mothering instincts kick into full gear.

“No time. You were already locked in here with them two. But there was a guy who tailed us for a while when I dropped Jay off at his place.” His voice is matter-of-fact, but I’ve known him long enough to sense the irritation underneath.

“Well, we have to go get him.”

My phone chooses that moment to ring, and the whole room looks to me.

Whoever is trying to get in touch has terrible timing.

It’s Jay’s number that pops up on my screen, and there’s a drop in my stomach.

Shitballs.

I pick up, and already I can tell by the chaotic noises in the background that this isn’t going to be good.

“Juliana needs to come to the club. All y’all need to get here. ASAP,” Jay barks over the noise. He sounds pained.

Then the line goes dead.

Everyone is staring at me, but my gaze goes to Juliana.

She’s pulled the sheets up around her in a cocoon. Her face is pale and blank. She’s terrified.

“Juliana,” I coax.

She looks up at me with ghosts in her eyes and says, “This is all my fault.”
