Alvaro and I have lived an alternative lifestyle together for nearly a decade, but living in the country on our ranch can be isolating from not just people, but others who have similar outlooks on relationships. Finding the club when we did was a saving grace and the breath of fresh air we needed. We’ve found an incredible community of people who have similar values and interests to our own.

This weekend is a celebration of that.

Selene Solis de Estrella is getting engaged to her partner, Gunnar Rees, who met at the club’s opening party and have been inseparable ever since. Seeing their relationship blossom over the years has been an honor, but this weekend has to be perfect, as she deserves.

It’s bizarre to think about how a bond formed over shared interests like flogging and rope play, but nonetheless, Selene is one of my closest friends.

The doorbell draws my attention to the front door, and I’m hopping off the bed and sprinting out of the bedroom to answer it before Alvie can yell at me not to run in the house.

Swinging the door open, I see the delivery driver retreating to their truck.

“Thank you!” I call out.

The woman tips their hat to me in acknowledgement and continues to get in their truck.

I look down at the box and immediately abandon it, instead turning back to yell, “Alvie! I can’t lift this.”

I may be an experienced yoga instructor and far stronger than my size 22 might lead others to assume, but still, I’d rather watch my husband’s ass as he lifts the massive box than do it myself.

I’m bouncing on my toes when he comes into the living room. He takes one look at the box and his eyes widen.

“I thought you ordered condoms and lube. What the hell is in there?”

“Condoms and lube! And a few other things.” I wave off his concern. “Now put it in the truck so we can leave.”

His side-eye hints at a spanking coming my way, but I knew that when I placed the order.

Within the hour, we’re all packed up and headed to the club.

Pulling up at the property always sparks something in my soul. It’s the calm of coming home with the excitement of new things to happen.

The entire property is immaculately laid out to take guests on a journey and provide them with ample space to relax or play. Whoever designed the resort took every feature of the land, from the natural pecan trees that grow abundant to the river that runs along the back of the land, to create an oasis among an otherwise flat landscape.

The Playground is both modern and elegant, yet still maintains the rustic charm that is associated with the architecture of rural Texas. The main resort is built of steel and stone. A foundation of limestone contrasts the black, metal pillars that form the main frame of the building, which allow for long stretches of windows that let light into all of the rooms. There are accents of wood throughout, which look like they’ve come from the land themselves.

Driving up under the awning of the main building, we’re greeted by a team of staff members ready to assist with our every need.

“Mr. and Mrs. Silva, welcome back to The Playground,” Mark greets us.

“Good to see you, Mark.” Alvie smiles at the man. “How are the kids?”

“Doing well. Natalie is a few months away from graduation, and then she’s going to do a European backpacking tour. June-bug is finishing her sophomore year now and already planning for her junior prom.” The man laughs.

“Oh wow! That’s so exciting.” I smile.

“You’re staying in the villas this weekend, correct?” he asks.

“I believe so. The group of us should all be together,” Alvie confirms.

“Perfect. Juliana briefed us all about the events this weekend. We’re all very excited to celebrate.” Mark grins. “If you go on ahead inside, we’ll get everything taken to your villa.”

“Oh, and the boxes go to the club for the party!” I chime in.

“Yes, Mrs. Silva,” he says as I give him a brief kiss on the cheek.

“Thank you, Mark.”
