“Clearly not,” my tone was full of sarcasm.

“She isn’t his daughter. The mother was shagging the driver and when they were killed, she was expecting the driver's second child.”

I placed my hand over my chest, holding my breath. I coughed to clear my throat.

“Does the daughter know this?”

“I have no idea, from what I have heard her papa treated her like shit and Ricco…her papa was forcing a marriage on her.”

“Holy fuck this is heated. So, she could have run away for any of those reasons?”

“Yes!”

“My men are out searching for her, only no luck,” I said, mystified about what the poor woman was going through or her real reason for going on the run.

“Now answer my original question…my mother, where or what happened to her?”

“Antonio, what I can tell you is…when you finally catch up with Dellucci, invite me around.”

“I need to know now,” I said firmly and abruptly.

“No, you aren’t in the right frame of mind. Only if I was to give advice, if you find the daughter, go easy on her, and get answers rather than jumping down her throat. She might be a victim here of some serious shit.”

Christophe hung up leaving me miffed, wondering what the hell was going on. I had so much to deal with, only now…finding the daughter was a priority and getting my men to find out about Ricco and where he was shipping these girls to.

Chapter 15

DANIELLA aka Layla

Work finished, I changed into some slouch wear that Antonio had provided for me and decided to go for a walk of the grounds, checking out the pretty gardens that were perfectly landscaped with mature trees and flower beds full of glorious colours. I also noticed the bricked wall went right around the perimeter of the house, there were a few areas, where I might be able to climb a tree to get over the other side. But again it would be whether I’d get caught on CCTV or get seen by the intense security guards and the suited men, no-doubt armed.

They grinned at me but nothing else.

I carried on walking with my arms wrapped across my chest, as my tummy grumbled, I hadn’t eaten much today, not in the mood. I stopped and sat on a bench that overlooked the garden.

“Mamma, what should I do? I know what I am doing is wrong, but I want him and he’s after Papa. What should I do?” Of course, I knew I wouldn’t get a reply, but heck I wish I could see her again and have her guide me in the right direction.

“Mamma” I said, entering the kitchen as she was cutting up some fruit.

“Yes, darling.”

I sat on the chair at the island situated in the middle of the kitchen.

“I… well, there’s this boy, he’s so cute and…”

“You want to go on a date with him?” She smiled with warmth.

“Yes. We have talked, but well… I’m scared. I know Pappy will flip if I say anything and he will send me to my room.”

“Oh, your papa is so old-fashioned. He only does it to protect you. He doesn’t like the thought that his little girl is growing up,” she said, as she wiped her hands on a towel and made her way around the island to me. She reached for my hand, “If you don’t tell him and I, don’t, I could drop you off at the cinema and pretend we are shopping.”

I smiled and clapped my hands excitedly; we’d share a secret. She wrapped her arms around me giving me that comforting hug.

“What are you two up to?” came the stern voice of Pappy.

“I have just suggested we go out for a girlie day at the weekend,” Mamma informed him.

“Don’t you have enough clothes and cosmetic shit?” Pappy said annoyed.
