“I want to know what is going on,” I jarred.

“I just…” She stopped and I saw her glaring at Monica. I had the answer right there. Monica looked at her and with that I stormed around my desk, pulling open the top drawer to retrieve my gun. Of course, I had no intention of shooting anyone. I marched around the desk when Monica turned to me, our eyes locked. I pulled the gun to her temple.

“Oh my God no, please no, no,” Lyla screamed in terror as she sobbed, I watched as she backed into the corner. She curled up into a ball, knees in her chest, face in her knees and her hands covering her ears, rocking back and forth.

My attention fell to Monica and then back at Layla. Her fragile body was cocooned into a small ball. I heard nothing but her sobs, sending my heart aching in despair. My heart melted to see my girl so traumatised, I seriously wondered what the hell had she been involved with.

“I am so sorry Antonio, I bullied her, threatened her to leave you. I held a knife to her throat,” Monica chimed. All I could do was look at my girl.

Lowering the gun, every muscle in my body became weak. I stared at Layla; my heart was on heart strings for her.

“Get the fuck out of here, and if I see you again, I won’t be responsible for my actions.”

Dropping my gun to the floor and ran to my girl. I placed my arm around her waist and another hand under her thighs and lifted her, not caring for any pressure on my wounds. My girl was important. I carried her out of the room as she snuggled into my chest feeling the dampness from her eyes on my shirt. The door was already open and out I carried my precious girl.

I saw Carlo. “Put my gun back in my draw,” I ordered him. He nodded as I continued to carefully carry Layla up the stairs and to my room. This was the place I wished her to feel safe.

I held Layla as I used my hand to open the door, I kicked it open and entered. I nudged her up my chest just to stop myself from dropping her. I arrived at the bed and placed her delicately down, she curled into a tight ball on her left side.

Standing like a fool gawping down at her. My tummy coiled as my pulse drummed anxiously, I was to find out what on earth had happened to my princess.

I spent the rest of day and night cradling my girl. She hadn’t said a thing to me about anything, all I did was hold her tight and hoped in time when she felt the time was right, she could talk to me.

Confused, I longed for answers. I had to get to the bottom of this mess and hear what the hell had happened to Layla before falling into my arms. There was something that didn’t play easy on my heart, and I wondered with her being passed from one place to another she had seen some serious stuff.

Sat in my office as Layla slept, I only nipped down to do a few bits.

“Boss.”

I lifted my head to see Carlo. “Thank you for coming.” I make us both a drink, hell knows I needed it. “Drink?”

“Whiskey would be great,” Carlo replied.

“Take a seat.”

Making the drinks and find Carlo sitting waiting for his drink. I passed him the amber fluid and proceeded to sit opposite him. I sat forward, elbows on my knees and leaned forward.

“What’s the situation on the Dellucci daughter?”

“Nothing boss. No one seems to know where she has gone. They reckon she might be well out of the country now, either that or hiding well.”

“I need that girl in my hands, do I make myself clear,” I gruff.

“Yes, boss.”

“Ricco?” I shot him a glare dark and full of intensity.

“We are trying to locate him. I have men for you all over the city, keeping their eyes and ears open, but Ricco is no stupid man.”

“Carlo, he shot me. I want his blood on my hands,” I told him with venom.

“I know boss, and as soon as I have anything I will tell you.” He shuffled. “Can I ask you a question?”

“You can but I might not answer.”

“What happened with Monica and Layla yesterday?”

“Monica threatened Layla to leave. Of course, it took me to put a gun to Monica’s head before she spat the truth out. If that woman comes within miles of this house, I want to know and have her in the basement. I’m not putting up with her shit any longer, even if she’s been an asset of information,” I told him.
