“Sugar, I’m in stilettos. I have no desire to come to your sixth-floor walk-up.”

“Oh…okay. Give me five minutes, and I’ll be right now.”

She doesn’t respond, and I already can tell she’s annoyed that I’m not ready. I quickly head to my bedroom and throw whatever clean clothes I can find into my duffel bag before making my way into the bathroom. Standing at the vanity, I haphazardly grab my toiletries and throw them into the bag.

Leaving my apartment, I traverse the stairs two at a time. I push open the main door of the building to find a quite irritated Sofia standing with arms crossed beside a blacked-out Tahoe.

“Get in,” she huffs, and I promptly follow her request. I’m sliding across the rear seat when she climbs in behind me and shuts the door.

“I’m sorry I took so long. I couldn’t find my passp?—”

She raises a hand to silence me, and I immediately obey. “Rule five. You are always ready to go. That means you always have a go bag.”

“A what bag?”

I swear I hear the driver chuckle at the question.

Great. Everyone knows I’m a newb.

“A go bag,” she exhales. “Two to three days of clothes, necessities, and your passport packed and ready to go. So, when things like this come up, you’re ready at a moment’s notice.”

“Understood.”

I want to bring up our conversation from earlier, clear the air a little. Let her know it isn’t going to be an issue for me. But I’d rather do it without the company of a driver listening to me bumble through every word.

On the plane.

When we’re alone.

* * *

Any plans I had of talking to Sofia on the plane were thwarted by the five-hour conference call she had with Alejandro and Andres. I wasn’t privy to the details, but I know who was on the other line from what I was able to hear.

Based on the current argument she’s having with the poor girl at hotel registration, there is zero chance it is a conversation I will have with her this evening. She swipes the key cards off the counter and storms toward me, her eyes full of ire.

“Fucking incompetence.” She shoves a key card into my chest. “They fucked up our reservation and we’re sharing a room.”

We’re what?

It’s fine.

It’s nearly one in the morning.

Both of us are exhausted and clearly going straight to sleep.

Carrying her suitcase, I follow behind her to our room. She swipes the card in the door and lets out a very loud sigh when she sees the room.

My eyes span around the tiny room. There is nothing but a king-sized bed, a desk-table combo, and a dresser.

“I’ll sleep on the floor.” The words fall from my mouth.

“Don’t be fucking silly. We’re adults. We can share a bed. I just might need to borrow a shirt.”

“A shirt?”

“I sleep nude, sugar. I didn’t exactly pack pajamas.”

My cock twitches at her words and begins to harden when I can’t quite shake the thought of her sprawled out naked beside me in the bed. Shifting where I stand, I attempt to reposition my rapidly hardening cock.
