“Such a good girl. Good girl,” he groans as he falls back on the pillows.

A tear slips down my cheek and rolls off onto Lucas’ chest.

“You all right, babygirl?” He pushes on my shoulder gently to get a better look at my face.

I wipe away the tear. “I’m fine.” I nod.

“What’s wrong?” Alexander’s at my side in a split second, kneeling on the floor beside the bed.

“Nothing. I just really…” I wipe away another tear. “How am I supposed to leave you guys after all of this is done?”

Alexander looks to Lucas then back at me. A darkness falls over his expression.

“Who said you have to leave?”

CHAPTER 16

Seraphina

The sun warms my face as I walk through the garden. Alexander is in charge of keeping me ‘out of trouble’ today, and finally agreed to let me walk around outside while he works.

The man has enough security cameras on the estate, I can’t imagine I can take one step in any direction and he wouldn’t be able to see me.

I’ve looked, but I don’t see the cameras so I can’t mess with him, but that’s fine. He looked extra tense this morning at breakfast.

All of the men looked stressed and none of them would give me any clues as to why. Even Dylan’s jaw was set tight as he chewed his bacon.

It’s been three days since I shared a bed with Lucas and Alexander, but the warmth of their touch still lingers. Each of the men has left their mark on me in their own way, and every time they kiss me, or hug me, or tug on my hair I know their love for me.

The words haven’t fallen from their lips, but they’ve said it anyway.

I know they worry.

I worry.

At some point this has to end. Vivian isn’t going to go away, and I can’t keep hiding like some scared dove.

I begin pulling the ripe beefsteak tomatoes for the BLTs Seth wants to make for dinner. A twig snaps behind me, and I smile. Maybe Alexander doesn’t want to spend all day staring at computer screens after all.

I drop two tomatoes into the basket and turn around, ready for whatever game he wants to play.

My heart stops.

Aaron stands in the row behind me.

He couldn’t have gotten through the gates without help. Someone had to open them for him.

“You’re gardening now?” he snarls, his disgust clear.

“What are you doing here?” I wipe my hands on my leggings, still searching for whoever is with him. Someone else has to be here.

“I’ve been looking for you.” He looks at the basket where I’ve already picked some basil and peppers for the salad.

“Where is Vivian?” I ask, sure she’s here.

He ignores the question. “You need to come home.” He puts his hand out to me, like he’s going to help me step through the rows of pepper plants.

I shake my head. “How did you get in here?” The cameras have to be picking this up. Alexander will see him; he’ll come running.
