“Is he-”

“He isperfect,” Kyle assured her, wrapping the boy into one of thetowels. Just then, the sound of the ambulance was heard.

“Perfecttiming.”

“Is she allright?” Brennan asked anxiously.

Rising, Kyle handedthe baby to the tech, who rushed in with a gurney.

“Both motherand son need to be transported to the hospital immediately,” Heordered. “I will follow behind in my car.”

“What's wrong?”

“She is losingblood.”

“He isperfect.” Ilene and Elizabeth stood outside the nursery, babyConnelly, who was finally sleeping inside his cot.

“Isn’the?” Elizabeth was overwhelmed as she stared at her grandson.“He looks like Brennan when he was a baby.”

“They have notgiven him a name yet?”

“No,” Sheresponded with a laugh. “My son says that as soon as his wifewakes up, that will be the first thing they talk about.”

“How is myniece?”

“Still insurgery.” Elizabeth reached for the woman’s hand andsqueezed it. “They have the best team working on her.”

“I have askedmy church to send up prayers for her. She was in a very traumaticsituation, and on top of that, she gave birth in that place.”Ilene heaved out a sigh. “She has been through a lot.”

“She is a braveyoung woman.”

“Oh, no doubtabout that.”

They both turnedtheir attention to the beautiful baby again with smiles on theirfaces.

Brennan turned fromhis contemplation outside the window as soon as the door opened.

“My wife?”

“Is still outof it, but the danger has passed,” Kyle said with a smile. “Ivolunteered to come and give you the good news.”

“Is sheokay?”

“She is fine.The body has been through a lot and just needs to catch up.”
