His body shuddered, and he stayed still except for his mouth, which distracted her. Whenshe wrapped her legs around his waist, he moved then, going into herwith concentrated slowness as if he was delaying the inevitable.

Brooke felt theexquisite pleasure of his thrusts - of him filling her up andoverflowing. Her hands roved over his back and shoulders restlesslyas she forced him to pick up the pace. The climax was swift andviolent, the storm gathering force. Her body arched beneath his asshe exploded, her slender body shaking before going weak and limp.

Lifting his mouthfrom hers, Cooper stared at her, his eyes stormy with passion. Histrembling hands framed her face as he drove into her. The control hehad tried valiantly to hold onto disappeared into thin air. His backarched and shuddered, and her name was torn from his lips as heclimaxed.

“Christ!”He whispered against her lips as he slumped on top of her. Shiftingslightly, he cradled her against his chest without breaking theintimacy. He kissed her cheek and the tip of her nose, hands rovingup and down her back slowly as he strove to regain his breath.

Brooke could notspeak. Words were tumbling inside her brain, but she could notvocalize them. She was hooked. There might be a better word for whatshe was experiencing, but she did not dare come out with it.

The tremors hadquietened down somewhat, but the feeling of complete bliss and uttercontentment was stealing over her.

“We could seeeach other on the down low.” She finally spoke.

“No.” Histone was implacable.

“For a month ortwo.”

“No. We alreadyknow what this is, and I am not prepared for anything less than afull-blown relationship that will eventually lead to marriage.”

“And if I say Idon’t want to get married?” She was speaking to hischest, unwilling to look at him.

“Then I wouldhave to ask you why not. Right now, you might be carrying my babyinside you.”

“That’sno reason to get married.” She argued.

Tipping her chin up,he gazed at her. “I want to marry you because I want to spendthe rest of my life with you.”

“What if youchanged your mind?” She persisted.

He wondered if nowwas the time to tell her what she had muttered in her delirium anddecided to take a chance.

“Tell me aboutyour Dad.”

She jolted at thatand could not hide the consternation at the question. “Nothingto tell. He died of a heart attack when I was fifteen.”

“Before that. What did he do to you?”

“Nothing.”

“I would liketo know Brooke.”

“Why? It hasnothing to do with you.”

“You spoke inyour fever. Some words were jumbled, but quite a few were clear.”

Her heart thudded.“What did I say?”

His expressiongentled. “You told him to stop and accused him of cheating onyour mother.” His fingers tightened, and he would not allow herto move out of his arms. “It would help if you talked aboutit.” He added quietly.

“You are ashrink now?”

“I am the manin love with you and would like to share what you are going through.I am not going to let this go, darling.”

“You are a painin the ass.”

“Talk.”

“Okay, fine.”She grumbled, wrenching her chin away. When she started to push athis chest, he merely wrapped his arms around her waist, holding herstill. “You are pissing me off.”
