He chuckled softly, hands tight around her waist. “I am not sure my heart couldtake it.” Bending his head, he kissed the top of hers. “Yes,it was certainly passionate.”

“And rough.”

Putting his fingerunder her chin, he stared at her with a frown. “Did I hurt you, darling?”

“I am not apiece of glass.”

“I know that,but-’ His eyes drifted to her neck, where the bite marks wereevident. Hissing out a breath, he trailed his fingers over thebruises.

“I should putsomething on it. I can never seem to control myself when it comes toyou. When you are not making me so angry, I want to strangle you; youare making me crazy with need. It’s pretty exhausting.”

“Do you wantout?”

“Hell no. Whywould I want a normal life after this?” He asked dryly.

“My sentimentsexactly.” She touched his face gently, the love she had justdiscovered overwhelming her. “I told my brother about us.”

He stared at her insurprise. “I thought you were waiting.”

“I had to tellsomeone I am involved with a guy, and things are progressingrapidly.”

“What was hisreaction?”

“He is happyfor me and delighted at my confused state of mind.”

“Why are youconfused?”

“I have beenasking myself that very question. I am waiting until the last minuteto break the news to my mother. She will be excited beside herselfand start planning a wedding I am not ready for.” She gave hima hopeful, speculative look. “We could live together for ayear.”

“No.”

“Why the hellnot? It would simplify things. We live together and see-”

His eyes narrowed asher voice petered off. “Finish it.”

“You knowexactly what I was going to say.” She muttered, avoiding hiseyes.

“See if thingswork out between us. Your confidence in us warms my heart.”

“I am justbeing practical.”

Her eyes flared asshe tried to jerk out of his arms. “I am being practical,”She repeated.

“You have beenin numerous relationships before, and they did not last. What if thesame thing happens?”

He gritted his teethat her reluctance to accept what they had. “First of all, theword numerous is a stretch, and secondly, I have never been in lovebefore.”

“How do Iknow that?”

His fingers dug intoher back and caused her to wince. “Because I told you. And Iexpect my word to be good enough. Are you trying to start anotherargument?”

“Will there bemakeup sex after?”

Just like that,Cooper felt the anger draining away. Shaking his head, he bent tokiss the tip of her nose. “You are the only woman with theability to make me feel like a damn emotional yo-yo,” headmitted with a sigh. “And I have a feeling it’sdeliberate.”

“I love beingthe first at something in your life.” She told him softly.

“Oh, trust me.There are a lot of ‘firsts’ where you are concerned.”Tipping her chin up, he kissed her with thoroughness that had heatspearing through her body.
