“And now itlooks much better. Come, darling. Let’s go and inspect yourcloset for something light and summery to wear. You are not attendinga business meeting after all.”

Brooke felt thefrantic flutter inside her chest as she made her way across the redcarpet that had been placed between the chairs. Her dress was asimple ice-blue color. Fitted from the throat to the waist, itbillowed gently from the waist down to swirl around her slender legsto the knees.

Her hair was a wildmass of curls framing her perfectly made-up face. Golden-brown eyesglowed, and diamonds were at her ears and around her throat. Shebarely noticed the guests seated on the lawn as she stared at hergroom.

The ceremony waslighthearted and sweet, with the couple exchanging their vows andtheir eyes focused on each other. Brooke had invited Miranda andGloria, who had expressed her appreciation for being included.

“I don’tbelong, Doc.”

“Nonsense. Youare family.” Brooke had told her, something that Cooper hadreinforced.

The ceremony wasover, and the picture-taking made Brooke impatient. “How muchlonger?” She called out to the official photographer as he hadthem again posing in front of the oleanders.

“A few moreminutes.”

“I am goingto take you at your word,” she warned the man.

“Impatient tostart the honeymoon, darling?” Cooper asked her indulgently, his arm around her waist.

“It wouldhelp if I knew where we were going.” She said dryly, snugglingagainst him.

“Patience, mysweet. You are going to love the location.”

“It had betternot be one of those tourist destinations with the honeymoon suite andpeople gawking at us.”

Cooper laughed, hauling her into his arms for an enthusiastic kiss caught on camera.

“You are such atreasure,” he whispered in her ear.

“Put me down,”She said with a smile as she wrapped her hands around his neck. “Ilove you.”

“I know youdo.” He kissed her hungrily, forgetting their audience.

“Now we aredone.” The photographer called out in delight. “That wasperfect.”
