“And … I don’t know what we have.”

It’s not like we go grocery shopping regularly.

I mean, I think Spencer does it a couple times a month to make sure we’re covered for basics, but yeah, we might be out of more than a few things.

“Okay, wait there,” Echo says.

He disappears and I go grab my laptop from my room.

I’m sitting down on the couch, opening it when Echo starts yelling again.

“Bacon, cheese, apples, sausage …”

“Yeah, sure,” I call back.

“All of it?” he asks.

“Not the cheese.”

I might kind of like cheese, but it definitely doesn’t like me.

“Not the cheese!”

I can’t help smiling. He’s so hyper this morning.

I know my mood would be a lot more like his if it wasn’t for our Alphas rushing out to look for Leanne. He’s probably right that everything’s fine, but I don’t like it.

It won’t feel fine until I know she’s safe.

I’m starting my camera hacking, systematically going through the ones closest to the ones on route to Leanne’s apartment building, when my phone starts to ring. I almost drop the laptop. I pick it up and set it down on the couch beside me, and I stand up to pick up my phone.

“Spencer, did you find her?”

“We’re with her now,” he tells me. “She’s fine. She left because her daughter called. Long story short, her daughter’s friend is missing. We need you to get the files on every guy in Beth Moore’s classes at Goldcrest College. I’ll text you the email address.”

“Okay. Do you know the course, or the year it started?”

“This year, and it’ll be the librarian course, whatever that’s called.”

“Library and Information Science. Great. I’ll get started. Text me the email.”

I let out a relieved sigh as I put the phone down and get to my feet.

Echo comes to the kitchen doorway. “Everything good?”

“She’s fine. They’re with her now.”

I feel like an idiot for getting so worked up.

“Good,” Echo says. “Are they headed home? Do I need to make extra pancakes?”

“Actually, I’ve been asked to look some stuff up to send to them. One of Secret’s friends have gone missing, and it seems like they think a guy from her class is involved.”

His eyes widen. “No shit? That’s insane.”

“Pretty much.”

“Well, you’d better get started. You know what they say with those missing person’s cases.”
