“We got half of them matched up. Not everyone gets reported missing, unfortunately.”

E.A. looks at me. “What do you have for me?”

“Clients who all made withdrawals from their banks for large sums of money.”

Seth looks over E.A.’s shoulder as he looks through the list.

“Why are the amounts different?” Seth asks.

“We need to check the missing persons against this,” E.A. tells him, spreading the lists out over the desk. “Five hundred grand could be for an Omega. Four hundred, I don’t know. Some of them could be Betas. Wait. I think these three are older. Close to thirty. Six hundred … they might be the youngest. There are a couple teenagers mixed into this mess.”

Leanne gets up. “What are the chances these billionaires never see the inside of a jail cell, even if we take all of this to the cops, or the FBI, or whatever?”

“Realistically?” Cassidy asks. “A judge might make an example of one of them. The amount of money and power these guys have is unbelievable. They think they’re powerful enough to do anything because they kind of are.”

“What about the press?” Leanne asks. “The power of public opinion is a real thing, and we’ve got some pretty damning evidence on these guys. Maybe the police would be forced to throw the book at them.”

“Maybe,” Cassidy says. “There’s a chance it could work, but there’s also a chance the victims might be killed when they could have been saved.”

Everyone is silent. And then, Ryan speaks up.

“We should visit these billionaires and show them they’re not as powerful as they think they are. Get them to release the women. Then, we go to the press with the list of names.”

“There’s one problem with that,” Leanne says. “There are more jars of evidence in Harlan’s office.”

“Then we go get those, and do this same detective shit with them,” Ryan says. “We can round up as many coalition members as possible. Get them to help with the extractions. We can put the victims at Goldcrest for any medical shit and have Lana’s staff inform their families.”

“Oh, Lana’s going to love you for that.” Seth snorts, shaking his head.

“It sounds good,” E.A. admits. “I think we can do this. I think it’ll work.”

“That’s going to make one hell of a story,” Echo says.

We all agree with that. E.A. and Seth take charge of what needs done, with Spencer overseeing and agreeing the decisions. Leanne hugs Secret and lets out a satisfied sigh.

We might have a few more steps to climb before this is over, but it’s close.

All of us can feel it. The atmosphere in the office is electric.

Seth calls Victor and asks for video footage to show where the rest of the jars are, and Leanne butts in to ask him to also send her footage of Harlan threatening her.

“Okay,” Seth hangs up the phone. “I’m going back to that office for the rest of the evidence. Corbin’s going to meet me there. We’ll be back here in an hour at the latest.”

“Be careful!” Secret calls as E.A. walks him out.

“Toshi,” Spencer says. “Can you print off the addresses for the guys on your list? In fact, do a little hacking and make sure they’re home, or if not find out where they are. We’re going to need as much information as possible. We don’t want to waste a second.”

“On it,” I tell him, heading back into his office.

Ryan follows and sits back down behind Spencer’s desk.

“I’m your assistant until we’re on extraction. Give me one of those lists and tell me what I’m doing.”

I guess I’m not doing so bad socially today after all. I seem to have made a friend.

“Start with the online phone book. Write each address on a separate sheet of paper.”

He gets moving, and I do the same.
