“I know you do,” he says, as he walks to his bedroom door.

Spencer opens it and gives me a concerned glance. “You doing okay?”

I shrug. “Just not feeling very sleepy.”

He nods as Echo steps into the room. “Well, don’t turn that thing up too loud.”

“I wasn’t going to,” I tell him. I’m not even planning on switching it on.

“Okay. There are sleeping pills in the kitchen if you need them.”

“I know where they are.”

“Night,” he says, before he steps into his bedroom.

“Night,” I murmur in response, leaning back in the couch and dropping the remote.

I can’t sleep, I don’t want to watch TV, and any minute now Echo and Spencer are about to start making Toshi moan while they claim him as their mate. I seriously need to find a distraction.

In a minute, when I feel like I can make myself move.

I don’t expect a distraction to come looking for me.

Leanne stands at Toshi’s bedroom door, giving me a look that tells me she needs help.

She’s dressed in a white t-shirt and dark blue panties and she’s holding the front of the t-shirt out.

“I forgot I bled on this shirt earlier and washing it didn’t help. Do you have a shirt I could borrow?”

A shirt she could borrow? I’ve literally never lent anyone an item of clothing in my entire life.

Considering how little I trust people in general, that’s been a rule I’ve had for a reason.

But this woman standing in front of me is my mate, and she needs something.

I get to my feet. “I’ll be right back.”

Chapter Forty-Four

Leanne

I can’t believe I forgot about the shirt. I was so out of it earlier today. I had the chance to change before they brought me here and I didn’t. I just threw a sweater on and picked up my purse.

Now, I can’t get the stain out, and I’m a little wet and I have to ask the Alpha who seems incredibly rigid and uncomfortable to help me out.

It’s the least he could do after that stunt he pulled earlier, Leanne.

Don’t feel bad about this. Keep the shirt he gives you.

He probably has a drawer full of them.

He was wearing a black shirt and slacks earlier and he’s wearing black sweats now.

I predict he’ll bring me a black t-shirt, and he does.

After a little bit longer than I would have hoped.

“Thanks,” I tell him, taking it and setting it down on the couch.
