“Thanks.” I blush.

Minny raises an eyebrow, clearly intrigued by Thor. “Introduce me,” she whispers, pretending to clear her throat.

“Thor, this is Minny.”

“Nice to officially meet you.” He laughs. “I take it you don’t remember much from last night either.”

“Thanks for that. I appreciate the assist.”

“It was nothing. Like I told Charlotte this morning, I was happy to help. No one deserves shit like that to happen.”

“Charlotte?” Minny smiles with raised eyebrows. I hated being called Charlotte. My full name seems too formal, but the way he says it sets me on edge. His voice’s sultry, deep tone overrides the disdain I have for it.

“Are you ready to go?” he asks, extending his hand to me.

Blushing under his intense gaze, I take his hand and let him lead me out of the room. Minny peeks out the door with a smile on her face. “Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do,” she yells after us before stepping back inside.

As we walk down the hotel corridor toward the elevator, I can’t help but feel a flutter of excitement building within me.

“Do you have an idea of where you’d like to go?” I ask him as we wait for the elevator.

“I have it all taken care of.” He smiles.

“You do?” I ask as the elevator dings, and he pulls me inside. The space seems entirely too small for the two of us. He never releases my hand as he presses the button for the penthouse floor.

“The penthouse? I thought we were going to dinner.” The apprehension must be clear in my voice because he shifts to look at me.

“Do you trust me, Charlotte?”

My breath hitches in my chest. “Yes, I do.”

Thor replies, pressing the button for the top floor. The elevator doors close, enveloping us in a private space. His eyes never leave mine as he leans against the wall, a mischievous glimmer in his gaze. “I’ve arranged for a private dinner on the rooftop terrace.”

My heart skips a beat at his words, and I can feel the anticipation building within me. “That sounds incredible,” I say, my voice barely above a whisper. “You didn’t have to go to all this trouble.”

Thor chuckles softly, his thumb gently brushing against my hand still entwined with his. “For you, it’s no trouble at all,” he says sincerely. “I wanted to make tonight special because you deserve it.”

A warm flush spreads across my cheeks as his words wash over me. It’s been so long since anyone has made me feel this way—deserving of something special. I lean closer to him, my heart pounding with nerves and excitement.

As the elevator doors open, Thor guides us out onto the rooftop terrace. Soft music fills the air, mingling with the gentle breeze that rustles through the nearby trees. The sight before me takes my breath away—an elegantly set table adorned with flickering candles and an array of delicious dishes.

“I hope you like it,” Thor says, pulling out a chair and gesturing for me to sit. He takes his seat across from me, his eyes never leaving mine.

“It’s perfect,” I murmur, my voice filled with awe as I take in the breathtaking view of the city skyline.

CHAPTER 8

CHARLOTTE

“This is amazing,” I remark, looking around us. “I thought it was a thank-you dinner. This seems like a date.”

“Why can’t it be both?” He smiles. I shift my gaze and find Thor staring at me.

“What?” I ask, unsure why he’s looking at me with so much beauty around us.

Thor’s intense gaze lingers on me, his peridot eyes capturing the vibrant lights of the Vegas skyline. His chiseled jaw tightens, and a mischievous smile tugs at the corner of his lips. “You…” he says in a low, husky voice, “… you’re the most amazing thing in this city.”

My heart skips a beat as his words hang in the air, electrifying the atmosphere between us. The seductive allure of Sin City merges with the undeniable chemistry crackling between Thor and me. Our chance encounter at one of the bustling casinos has taken an unexpected turn, leading us to this rooftop oasis overlooking the city that never sleeps.
