And as the last patron stumbles out into the night, leaving us in the quiet aftermath, I find myself eager for the silence, for the chance to create new memories with Jane.

The last of the glasses clinks into place on the shelf, and I can feel Mandy’s expectant gaze on me as she slings a rag over her shoulder. “You sure you’re okay closing up alone?” she asks Jane.

Jane’s eyes find mine. “I’m not alone, now go.”

The door chimes its farewell as Mandy heads out, her petite frame swallowed by the night beyond.

“Goodnight, boys,” Jane calls out to the remaining staff with a nod, her voice echoing slightly in the now empty space.

They throw back their own farewells, the heavy door closing behind them with a definitive thud. Alone at last.

“Need help with that lock?” I’m close enough to make her jump.

“Jesus, Tex, give a girl some warning next time,” she chides, but there’s no real heat to her words.

“Warning would ruin the surprise.” I lean against the wall, arms crossed, in the dim light.

With practiced motions, I watch as she shuts down the register before flipping the sign to ‘Closed’. The last thing to do is kill the lights, and as Jane reaches for the switch, I come up behind her.

“Allow me.” Our world plunges into velvet darkness.

My hands find her instantly, as they glide up her thighs, hiking up the skirt she chose this morning. It feels like an invitation, one I greedily accept as my lips crash against hers. This kiss is all-consuming, branding me with a need I’ve tried—and failed—to ignore since the moment I met her.

“Tex...” My name is half-moan, half-plea against my mouth as I lift her effortlessly, seating her on the cool surface of the bar counter. Jane’s hands grapple for purchase on my shoulders.

“Jane,” I growl.

The rest of the world might as well not exist. There’s only Jane, her hunger, and the way she makes me forget every reason I should push her away.

Fabric tears, her underwear, sacrificed to urgency and then I’m there, pressing inside, filling her with equal parts pain and pleasure. Jane gasps, nails digging into my back as she meets my movements, desperate for more, for everything she’s offering in this reckless moment.

“God, you’re tight... so wet for me,” I rasp.

“Only for you,” Jane manages, breathless, the words spilling out as our bodies collide.

Burying my face in the crook of her neck, her skin feels so hot. We move together in a rhythm as old as time, frantic and frenzied, chasing a release that promises to shatter us both.

Heat surges through me, a wildfire that can’t be tamed. Our movements are frantic, each thrust a beat in the chaotic symphony we create together.

“More,” Jane pants, her voice barely rising above the clamor of flesh against flesh. “Don’t stop.”

“Never,” I promise, my words a gruff whisper against her ear.

My hands grip her hips, guiding her to meet my urgency. Our shadows flicker on the walls, cast by the neon lights outside that slip through the cracks in the blinds—spectators to our fervor.

“Tex,” Jane moans, and it feels like a confession, a prayer, a plea all at once.

“Say it again,” I command, my pace relentless.

“Tex!” Jane’s voice breaks over my name, a cresting wave finally crashing against the shore.

Our climax hits hard, that leaves us both gasping for air, our bodies slick with the evidence of our desire. I slow, each movement now a gentle ebb, and our foreheads come to rest against each other, a quiet after the storm.

“Jane,” I breathe out, my voice ragged. “You’re the one. Now and always.”

“Always,” she echoes back, her heart syncing with mine in this moment of surrender.

In the aftermath, as our breathing steadies, I can’t help but feel that maybe, just maybe, I’ve found the kind of family I’ve never had before. We’ve found a sanctuary in each other’s arms.
