I grin as Mauka slaps my back, and I watch Malia holding Kaia. “It is such a blessing to be adding to your ohana, and double the fun is always so exciting,” Malia states.

Nalani begins to cry and rushes forward, almost tackling Kaia to the floor in an embrace. “I am so glad everything is okay and the babies are fine. I couldn’t live with myself if they were hurt.”

Kaia embraces her with soothing strokes up and down her back. “It was my choice to help you. Any consequences are on me, Nalani. Not you. Everything worked out okay in the end. Now, your family is reunited, and mine is expanding. Everything is so good in our worlds.”

Nalani sniffles and nods. “Thank you, Kaia, from the bottom of my heart. I don’t think I could have ever found the strength to leave if you hadn’t given it to me.”

Kaia grabs Nalani’s hands in hers and looks her in the eyes. “You are so strong, Nalani. But don’t ever let a man walk all over you like that again. You come from a powerful family. Take that strength with you and use it to your advantage. Never, ever be afraid to walk out and leave if something feels off. We are Defiance!”

“You’re right… thank you for everything. I will never forget what you did for me and my family.”

“You’re so welcome, but for now, I think Hurricane and I will head back to the hotel for some much-needed R&R.”

Everyone laughs with a synchronized nod.

“Come over for a feast before you fly out. We are so grateful to both of you. We owe you and NOLA Defiance a great debt. Oahu Defiance will always be here for you and NOLA Defiance whenever you need us. So feast with us. We won’t take no for an answer!” Pono requests, and I dip my chin.

“Sure thing, Pres. I’ll give you a call. But for now, I’m takin’ my woman back to the hotel.”

They all part like the Red Sea as I usher Kaia through the Defiance members, all of them smiling at us, and I walk her out of the hospital. “C’mon, Sha, let’s get you back so you can finally relax by the pool like you’ve been dreamin’ of since we fuckin’ got here.”

She lets out a delighted sigh. “Sounds like heaven.”

The drive back to our hotel is quiet, but we can’t seem to stop touching each other.

It’s like a reassurance we’re still here.

That we are okay.

That she is okay.

Kaia rubs her hand up and down my leg, and with each pass, it goes higher. I reach over, squeezing her thigh with a growl. “What are you playin’ at, Sha?”

“Whatever do you mean?” She acts coy, resting her hand firmly on my hardening cock.

It’s difficult to focus on the road with her breath turning heavy and her fingers dancing along my zipper. The fact I almost lost her, lost our babies, hits me and sits like a stone in my gut. It’s then I realize I need this connection with her—this reassurance that she is very much here with me.

This beautiful woman is going to be the death of me.

I release a low groan as her hand cups my straining cock, and my hand trails under her dress, her panties already wet. “Shit, woman.” I suck in a breath between my teeth, pressing on the gas.

Turning into the parking lot, I glance at Kaia, and my breath catches.

This beautiful woman is mine.

She is here.

She is okay.

“I love you, Hurricane,” she tells me when our eyes meet.

“Fuck! You know I love ya. You scared the shit outta me tonight. But damn if I ain’t a lucky man.”

It’s late, and all the parking stalls closer to our room are filled. The weather is perfect, and the moon is full, so taking a longer walk back to the suite will be refreshing after our chaotic night.

Kaia is out of the car before I can open my door. I slide out, shutting the door harder than I mean to, the noise filling the quiet of the night. “You in a hurry or somethin’?” I question, rushing to catch up to her.
