With Mitch wrapping his arm under his partner, he pulled her to her feet as Chloe placed the towel between her legs.

“Sorry about your towel, Amber.”

She waved a hand through the air. “No worries.”

Amber led them to a door marked private. Through the door, was a narrow curving staircase leading to the upper, private deck. They exited out onto a much wider wraparound deck, however, it took over six minutes to move Cedar as she had to stop twice to work through a contraction.

Towards the front of the yacht, Amber unlocked the bedroom and pushed open the door. The room was amazing, but not overly huge. A huge round bed was tucked up against the only solid wall as banks of windows were on either side and along the front. No doubt the daytime view would be breathtaking. What a way to wake up.

“Cedar, just hold on.”

She grunted in Mitch’s arm and lowered herself into a semi-squat.

“Amber, can you grab a shower liner or a plastic bag and a few more towels?”

Amber disappeared and returned within a heartbeat.

“I just ripped it off,” she said with a hint of pride in her voice.

Cedar grunted and growled.

Amber and Chloe spread out the liner on the bed and Mitch helped her onto it. Amber grabbed a few pillows to prop behind her back.

Antonio appeared suddenly at the door and Amber jumped off the bed, running to his side.

“Go. Go. Go.”

“You snuck away.”

“She’s having her baby. Right now.” With a quick gaze to her friend to seemed to be on the edge of panic, she returned her half-hearted focus to Antonio. “Don’t say anything, but yes, radio for an ambulance or something. Go go.”

Spinning quickly, he zipped away and closed the door. The last thing Cedar needed was a viewing audience.

“Oh, god, it’s coming.” Cedar curled her back like a cat and grunted.

Within a moment, Chloe whispered calmly, as if she’d delivered babies daily, “I see the head.”

“Oh wow.” Mitch took a peek and paled slightly. “Oh yeah, baby. It’s right there. Touch it.”

Amber peeked too as Cedar reached between her legs.

With the next grunt, the head emerged, then a shoulder, and Cedar caught her baby as it slithered out into her hands. She pulled it up to her chest, sobbing.

Amber blanketed them both with a thick towel and kissed her best friend on the forehead.

Through the towel, Chloe gave the baby a vigorous rub and a sweet squeal filled the air.

Mitch started crying too as he ran his hands over Cedar’s head. “That was so amazing. It is a boy or a girl?”

Cedar pulled back the towel and checked, and breathlessly whispered, “It’s a boy, honey. A baby boy.”

Chloe did a quick check on the baby and mom. “All’s good. Everyone looks good.”

The baby was pinking up nicely and continued with his crying as he snuggled against his mom.

After a few minutes, Amber spoke softly. “I’m going to let Antonio know so we can get you onto land as quickly as we can.”

“Thank you.” Cedar’s breathing was slowing down. “Can you send my sister up in a little bit?”
