Well, actually no, they’d never see the documentary. They’d just pretend they had and scream about it like they did with everything else they didn’t agree with. No active learning for them!

What I learned, though, was that I definitely wasn’t the only human man fascinated by a slightly aggressive, wildly furry, and deliciously well-hung Norlon. Hearing Korey talk about his male and female Norlon clients reminded me of every sexual escapade I’d had with Py. It was entirely possible that a sex worker had taught a young Py everything he knew and did with me.

Honestly, if I didn’t have Py, I might’ve signed up for a one-way ticket into Nor’s thriving sex industry after watching this movie.

Well, I might’ve been able to imagine doing it. Vividly, but… Yeah, just in my head.

Py was it for me.

As the credits started rolling, the lights came back on, and Administrator Rijal walked to the front of the room again. He was wringing his hands as he gazed out at us, the poor guy. Wanting to boost his spirits since all of this was going to be hard enough, I started clapping. My fellow humans quickly took up the cause, and then the Norlons joined in. Rijal huffed a laugh and grinned as he bowed to us.

What followed was a sort of Q and A, where he’d ask a question and we’d answer. I didn’t know about distribution methods, but agreed with putting it online to maximize the number of people who could see it—they didn’t want to profit or let others profit and so wanted to keep it out of theaters. With age restrictions in place, they could limit the audience appropriately while still making it accessible.

When the discussion shifted to the film’s reception down on Earth, several heads turned my way, though I bet most of them knew what I’d have to say.

“Well, um,” I said as I stood up. “There will be backlash, like there’s been for everything else. You’ll have people claiming you’re grooming children, promoting a gay agenda, encouraging sex trafficking… Being able to counter those points intelligently and calmly will be important, especially in the beginning.”

“Can you help with that?” Rijal asked. “The counter points?”

“Oh, sure, of course.” Looked like I had some homework. “Could I get a copy so I can make notes?”

“Layleen will make sure there’s a copy on your tablet,” he said, gesturing to a long-eared gray Pip.

“Great. Thanks.” I nodded to both of them and sat back down.

After the session ended, several of us went over and offered encouragement to Rijal and his team. They seemed to appreciate it.

Logan walked with me as we left, surprising me because I hadn’t thought I’d see him today. “Man, I feel bad for them,” he said.

“Yeah, they’re the one mission that’s never going to have an easy time of anything.”

“They don’t quit, though.”

“Right? That takes a lot of inner strength.” I paused at a split in the hallway, squinting down the left side because I felt like that was the way I wanted to go, which probably meant it was wrong.

Logan chuckled at me. “Where are you heading?”

“My quarters. I’m going to get started on my notes.”

He pointed to the right. I sighed and walked along with him, glad my instinct to ignore my instincts was getting better.

“While I was watching,” Logan said, “I couldn’t help thinking that sex work seemed so reasonable. Like why can’t we just make it a legitimate career choice?”

“I thought the same thing! Because if we had a real and honest relationship with sex, maybe other things like our sexual identities wouldn’t be so controversial. I mean, if being gay was just something you could put on a resume, then where’s the problem?”

Logan practically moaned, the sound envious. “Goddamn, that would be amazing.”

I bit my lip and hesitated before I made myself say, “Am I crazy to think that making this deal with Nor could change the world?”

He bumped my shoulder and grinned. “Nothing wrong with hoping.”

We walked down another hallway, and I thought maybe it looked familiar. What I needed were more signs. Most of the rooms were really big on these levels, so if it was a conference room or something, there might only be a sign every fifty feet. And now that we were on a level of mostly personnel quarters, there weren’t any signs, just labels like apartment numbers.

“Oh my gosh,” I said as it suddenly occurred to me why I hadn’t thought I’d see Logan around today. “Aren’t you getting married tomorrow?”

“Yeah?” He looked genuinely confused by my outburst.

“But don’t you have wedding things to be doing?”
