A very, very hungry wolf.

The man pushes himself off the door, grabs me by the elbows, and steers me backwards until I bump into the wall behind me. I stumble over my uncoordinated feet but his hold on me keeps me from falling. The hard bathroom tile is cold against my partially exposed back. The strong scent of his cologne, more pungent and unpleasant this close, makes my stomach churn.

“S-Stop!”

I force my mouth to move, to form words, but they don’t do much good. He just keeps coming. Keeps pressing into me. His hips against mine. Those thin, chapped lips looming closer and closer and closer…

I shove against him. But this guy is strong and, even if I was stronger, the alcohol sloshing in my stomach isn’t helping the situation.

“I had a different kind of ‘thank you’ in mind,” he breathes. “Something more like?—”

Then, suddenly he’s gone. One second, he’s kissing on my neck and pressing his body to mine; the next, he’s flat on the floor and his blood is covering up graffiti that says Forever Yours.

I look up at the man who saved me.

Reese Dalton looks right back down.

REESE

This guy is fucking dead.

Red colors my vision as I snatch him up and shake him, like I’m gonna rattle his head off his shoulders.

“You ever touch her again and I’ll gut you like a fucking fish, you understand me?” I snarl. Driving the point home, I smash my fist into this scumbag’s face. Blood bursts from his nose, though I think I’m doing him a favor since the damn thing was crooked as all hell to begin with.

I toss the limp bastard to the floor where he belongs, down with all the piss and vomit caked between the tiles.

Quinn peeks into the bathroom. “Holy shit!” she slurs.

I ignore her. This is all her fault to begin with. Saying nothing else, I grab Olivia by the arm. It’s the first time she seems to really register that I’m here, that I’ve saved her.

She sure as shit isn’t thankful for it.

“Let me go?—”

“Are you fucking kidding me?” I snap. “Like hell I am.”

“Hey, you don’t need to act like that with her!”

Quinn is hot on our heels as I drag Olivia through the bar and outside. I’m so damn furious with her. I knew that Quinn was more the party type than Olivia, but this? This is a hell of a lot more than I would have expected.

“You’re one to talk. What kind of fucking friend are you? That creep had his hands all over her and where were you?”

I glare behind me to see Quinn has stopped cold in her tracks. Tears well up in her eyes. Oh, for God’s sake. I don’t have enough fucks left to care about hurting her feelings with the truth.

“That’s not fair,” she whispers, barely audible.

“If I hadn’t showed up,” I snarl, “what do you think would have happened?”

“Reese, it’s not her fault?—”

“Don’t defend her,” I growl out. “Don’t you dare defend her. Not after what I just saw. I dunno how the two of you are friends, but right now, I’m not impressed.”

The hurt deepens on Quinn’s face. I’m not about to stick around and watch her ugly cry. Pulling Olivia along, I stash her into my car. Given her state, it’s easy to buckle her in and tighten the seatbelt.

“Stay there,” I order.
