I give her the finger. But when her eyes dance down to my bared chest, something occurs to me. Then it’s my time to smirk.

I’m already out of my shirt, but completing the show won’t hurt, will it? I pop the button of my jeans. When I drag my zipper down, Olivia’s eyes trail right along. Her lips part, plush and pink.

Still smirking, I hook my fingers into my jeans at my hips. Olivia keeps her gaze on me as I drag my jeans and boxers down. I stand proud and bare in front of her. Deciding to be more of an asshole than I already am, I give my cock a stroke. It twitches in my hold, stiffening harder for her than it’s ever done for anyone else in my whole fucking life.

I’m pleased with myself knowing that when she swallows and flops back on the bed, I’ve gotten to her.

“Well,” I say, “guess I’m just gonna shower real quick and I’ll go to the guest room. You don’t mind, right?”

“Fuck off,” she croaks into the pillow.

I laugh all the way into the bathroom.

REESE

The next morning, I wake to a bunch of messages from Coach.

COACH: just because your benched doesnt mean you cant come in to practice

COACH: this doesnt look good for you

COACH: give me one reason i dont drop you for flaking

Needless to say, proper grammar and punctuation aren’t Coach’s specialties. I roll my eyes. I knew he’d be a pain in the ass when I’d told Dante to pass on the message I wouldn’t be in for practice today. Dante chewed me out, too, but at least it was friend shit.

REESE: I told Dante to tell you it was a family emergency

COACH: a sick girlfriend isnt a family emergency

“Fuck, dude, get off my dick,” I mutter.

REESE: My daughter is too. They caught the same bug.

Little white lies don’t matter when it comes to Olivia and Violet. I’ll say whatever I need to say. I’m not going anywhere.

COACH: ah but your just fine huh

COACH: thats real convenient aint it

REESE: I’m healthy as a horse, what can I say?

COACH: show up tomorrow or dont show up at all for the rest of the season

It could be a hollow threat, more of Driscoll’s usual B.S., or it could be the real deal. I weigh my options. Do I tempt it? I could probably get signed by another team that won’t start me benched this coming season.

Yeah, but on top of the Holly shit, should we really risk it?

Sometimes, my inner voice is reasonable.

REESE: Be there bright and early.

COACH: you damn well better be

I text Melanie a couple of contacts that have been reliable in the past to see if they can last-minute babysit Violet for the rest of the week. I want Olivia to have as much time as possible to recover without having Coach up my ass about it. She’ll get that sorted.

Now… where’s my baby girl?
